I like to think this board and the 10mm crowd has helped things keep growing! Here are just a few in the last couple of years:
- Federal introduces 180gr Trophy Bond JSP at real 10mm velocity
- Sig rolls out four new 10mm P220 pistols
- Sig will soon be rolling out 180gr V-Crown JHP and practice 180gr FMJ at advertised 10mm velocity
- Dan Wesson rolls out a new 1911 Silverback
- Grand Power will be rolling out it's P40L 10mm pistol
- Rock Island rolls out the 1911 ROCK Ultra MS 4.21"
- Rock Island rolls out the 1911 PRO Match Ultra 6"
- Rock Island rolls out the 1911 TAC Ultra MS 4.21"
- Rock Island rolls out the 1911 TAC Ultra FS 5"
- Para rolls out a LS Hunter 1911 6"
- Hornady introduces the 175gr Critical Duty ammo
- Littlestone Ammunition starts producing real 10mm ammo
- PBR Ammunition starts producing real 10mm ammo
- Prograde starts producing real 10mm ammo
- Armscor starts producing 10mm practice ammo
- PPU increases their 10mm velocity to something more respectable
- Several new MFG's add respectable 10mm practice ammos to their lineups
- STI rolls out the 1911 Nitro 5"
- Kimber rolls out the 1911 TLE 5"
- Glock rolls out the G40 6" optics ready pistol
- JAG starts producing good 10mm brass that will hopefully soon be available to loaders
I probably missed a few ;D
2017 hornady finally makes a run of the 200gr custom load. 2020 they take it from 1080fps to 1100fps.
I kid.
But we are certainly in a great 10mm time!!
That's what I'm talking about.
I was hoping Colt might make more than just the Delta Elite and maybe add a 10mm back to the Gold Cup line. Oh well.
Its a amazing platform, more guns and ammo please.

My buddy is wishing for a Delta Gold Cup as well.
I always hear how it's a dieing cartridge, cult... yadda yadda. I don't think so!
It is no doubt back on the rise. I wish some police departments would go back to it.
Too many small framed people in police work these days though.
If a couple of large LEO agencies would adopt it, and a few more choices were offered in carbines by the major manufacturers it would 'explode' onto the marketplace. Everyone here understands the 'versatility' of the cartridge, but for venues like 'hog hunting' I think it's only scratched-the-surface, so-to-speak. The advent of the new SIG will help-out immensely in spreading the popularity. The 10mm was announced in 1983, and declared DOA before 2000. 32 years later, we're a vibrant alternative 'alive and kicking' and the legend keeps on growing! Basically, kept alive by people like us the 'true believers'. One problem has always been, that most people are lazy, and won't try anything new, that's outside-of-the-box. Plus, the 10mm has always been over-shadowed by the .45 ACP. Some of the 'Fudds" running the large firearms concerns like: Remington, Ruger, etc., need to 'really look' at what their customers desire. When auto companies allowed visionaries like: John Delorean, and Carroll Shelby to build cars for the marketplace, the products sold like proverbial 'hotcakes'. When 'bean-counters' totally control creativity, it usually signals the 'death-knoll' for new products, and helps jettison the required talent out-the-door. Maybe, this is a sign the industry is finally waking-up to the demand for 10mm firearms, and ammunition. Let's hope so!
I don't want to bust any bubbles here but I highly doubt any Law Enforcement agencies will adopt the 10mm as many are moving away from the 40S&W's and back to 9mm's like the FBI...they think they found the magic bullets I suppose.
The local Sheriff's Office here has switched back to 9mm's and away from 40S&W and 45's...
Unless the Army decides to jump on the 10mm as their choice of new weapon, the 10mm will continue to be an enthusiast cartridge... ::)
Wusses - they are all wusses!
I will be 63 in March and have 2 10mm guns. Going to add a 45 just for variety. Anyone who thinks it is impossible to control a 10mm should attend my tactical training classes where 2 other people besides me use a 10mm for their training.
JUST EXCUSES if you ask me.... 8)
Pat
I don't disagree Pat. Anyone can learn to control it.
Learning to control a 10mm does takes a good bit more time and effort than a 9mm. Not saying I don't think it is worth it. Clearly I think it is.
But, most police departments have very minimal training with firearms. And too many officers are just reaching those minimums. Not guys that I think would do well with a 45 or a 10mm. They are struggling with the 40, which is why they are moving back to the 9mm.
The reality is the 9mm is easy to shoot. It is easy to achieve competence with. So, unless LE agencies are going to change their policies with regard to training and qualification standards, they aren't likely to adopt a more potent round.

10mm would make a great handgun for military applications in the desert.
But we know how it would go, half the people shooting it would have trouble qualifying if they used even decent 10mm loads.
Structured Query Language Bullet:
Yes, I know the 9mm is easier to handle and police officers come in all shapes, sizes and strengths. I just have such a strong personal aversion against the 9mm; but I have always maintained I would not be critical of other's choices and preferences in gun and rounds.
I guess what really bugs me is many of these people have probably never shot a 10mm. I know every time someone tries one of my two 10mm's they are shocked at first (if they have never shot the 10mm), THEN go on to say that they think they could learn to handle it.
My double taps are certainly slower than when I shoot a 9mm or 45, but I also am of the belief one well place 10mm is going to do significantly more harm than a 9mm, thus improving the chances for fewer shots fired to achieve a stop. This is NOT scientific and I don't claim it to be, but I honestly believe it.
Long live our 10mm!
Pat
I don't even think hot 10mm loads have that much recoil.
I think 10mm would be an excellent choice for exactly that reason......well what I mean to say, it could be loaded really hot for operators on the fringes and standard for regular carry.

100% agree.
Having been through the academy, run the police qualifier with a class of cadets and in the field, I can tell you this is already a real challenge for a majority of officers using 9mm. This is keeping shots on an 11X17 square at no further than 25 yards. And those shots are with two hands and a barricade to use as a rest. Over half the shots as I recall are at less than 12 feet.
I am just saying, based on my experience, and the evidence of accuracy and effectiveness in real police shootings, the 10mm is too much for their level of training. Either we have to up the training and requirements or make it easier to achieve them. Unfortunately, we are lowering the bar.

Had the DGC years ago in 10 mm. worst pistol I ever owned.
Big fan of the Glock 20 here.
I agree the 10 is in a much better place now that even 20 years ago. I think the greater selection of ammo (especially Underwood) has a lot to do with it.
Unfortunately, 2 years ago the 10mm was removed from the approved calibers list for my old Office.

want to say welcome and and i also love my G20SF
I purchased my first 10mm right before Christmas (G29sf) and my arms dealer who is a Glock freak (owns near 30 of them) asked me why I chose the 10mm. I explained how versatile the round was and how when loaded hot was basically a high capacity 357mag with less recoil. I could tell he was intrigued but not totally sold. I saw him just the other day and he made a point to mention how 10mm specifically G29's are selling like hot cakes!
I was so happy to hear this! The 10mm just might be starting to finally go mainstream. I hope!
Glad to hear the 10mm is making a recovery. I recently purchased one so this interests me greatly.

I'm a little late to the 10mm party but glad I finally bought into it.
~While my other calibers gently weep~
NOOOBODY is late to the 10mm party!!
My dealer had a case of the Federal 180 bonded... I almost grabbed a couple boxes, but figured my $$ was better spent on the projectiles to load my own so I did not buy them.
CW
with the FBI choosing the 9mm 147grain bullet they are going to completely phase out all the 10 mm still left in some of the agents hands... This includes the 10Mm MP 5....although they were almost ready to phase all of them out anyway.they shoot the FBI 10mm special load..Sissies.
How many PD's have adopted the .44 Magnum? Yet it manages to be a perennial best seller! How many PD's are currently supporting the .357 Magnum? .41 Magnum? .500 Magnum?
The FACT is, these rounds retain a loyal following OUTSIDE of any "po-leece" contracts!
The .44 Magnum has NEVER needed po-leece support to thrive and neither does the 10mm! It's time people stopped considering, or expecting some official police agency support to make the 10mm viable...it's NEVER going to happen, but what WILL happen...what HAS happened, is a generation raised on autoloading pistols has "rediscovered" the FULL POWER 10mm as an adjunct and possible replacement to the .357 Magnum and.44 Magnum in the hunting field...and yes, even the self defense field.
The current popularity of the 10mm owes NOTHING to "cop land" and EVERYTHING to "sporting land"!
I bet, if you Resurrected Elmer Keith, handed him a 10mm and told him to shoot an Elk at 600 yards, and he did so, the manufacturers could not keep up with the sudden demand for 10mm :P

That is no joke.
Elmer would probably laugh at our 10s and pick up his Ole 44 and go bout his day!
