Title: COL length for Hornady 155 grain xtps with Hodgdon longshot
Post by: halfglocked on January 28 2015 09:16:01 PM MST
Well hi all ,I know it has been asked by myself and other forum members about using longshot under the lighter 155 grain bullets and I was looking up on Hodgdon site and it doesn't give any info on longshot and 155grainers and I found some info off another post for charge weights, but where do I set the  COL , to keep pressure at optimum?I'll be using a stock Glock.20.sf and hopefully next week my 20#wolf rsa will come any knowledge would be GREATLY appreciated.

I would use 1.2520" as the COL. that should be as good as it gets...Have you decided on the charge weight of LongShot?

I was think of 9.5 grains and thanks that what I was worried about was setting the COL  and either   ending up too much pressure or just wasting unburnt powder oh yea I was going  to use CCI standard large pistol primers unless you think. Do you mind if I pm you about a Lee pro 1000 I Inherited.

If you look through the pull-downs, DT & UW both loaded the 155 and 165's with that much and more of the LongShot.
Just remember the FMJ's are shorter than the JHP's, so JHP data can be used with the FMJ's.  Those 100% copper bullets are longer than the lead core and loads need to be adjusted lower for the all copper bullets due to their longer length.
