Where do you live??? Why would a judge have to sign off on anything??? This is very interesting!!!!!
I just bought one and will get it delivered from a gun shop in Az. in about four days and have it at the range the following days shooting it.!!!!!
You did get a good price. I paid $1095 for mine.
I live in NY, permits are issued by county.
Judges review the paperwork and sign the amendment.
Some counties have Judge pre sign the permits and the clerk does a quick check on you and give it to you the same day. My county makes you wait for the Judge to sign the actual permit.
Now before you attack NY, be advised its harder to get a concealed license in Texas than NY.
Sounds KINDA like the "pistol purchase permit" here in NC, except you have to get a judge to sign rather then the sheriff :o do you have to jump through the same hoops if you have a CCW?
NY only offers CCW, open carry is banned. Sheriffs do the paperwork and a judge signs the permit. Outside of NYC they are for life with recertification and no fee every 5 years.

I don't know about that, a 4 hour lecture with test and a shooting session that a first time user can score decent enough on (you hit paper your good), is all it takes in Texas. ID was to the door in a month, plus the fact that we can buy and have guns in the house and car no problem without a CHL seems pretty easy in Texas. I could be wrong...
EDIT - I did forget the fingerprints.
My wife never shot a gun or took a gun course in her life before I got her the Full Carry permit.
Seems like you have a little communism sprouting up in Texas. After all, how dare they ask for a course and shoot off.
Here in Va to get a chp you just need to take a safety course my hunter safety class qualified. We also have open carry here and no permit is required, I do a fair amount of it during the summer.

Wow, I stand corrected! I did not know that. When you mentioned the judge had to sign off on it, that seemed like it could be a pain to me, but certainly doesn't sound like it is if that is the only step.
