The frame is Hard Chromed now, heart hammer fitted and ambi safety in place. It was a workhorse before giving it a freshen and has a bunch of work slated catching up the 6" data when it's all together. I would have to say it was my best 10mm shooter before and with the better hammer and looks will be my favorite for the 10mm. It's hard to beat the Hunter 10mm and making it like an Xtreme is icing on the cake!
I thought the Hard Chrome would have cost more. Not bad for such a durable finish.

Looks great.
I can't wait to get the panels, slide and new mags in place. Hopefully function is fine and I can work it hard 8)
Cool. Did that start out as your hunter frame or is that your limited frame?
Hunter frame. It's the same frame and I more or less made it into a total Limited version with everything I did/added. I'm hoping I took enough meat off the Heart hammer so it clears without smacking the frame like most do.
I think it looks darn close to the desired reproduction:

I didn't notice it before, but the Xtreme Gold Match isn't ambi. Mine will be and no lightening cuts in the slide ;D
Frames looking quite impressive. Cant wait to see the end result.
These guys have a good reputation. They do all kinds of coatings... coatings I have never even heard of :o
I see they are doing Stippling as well. Down the road I might have my Taurus 992 redone and use them again.

That is really coming around nicely. 8)
I should have that Match type trigger pull. Hopefully when I measure it I get about 2.5lbs. The base pads as pictured list for $85 each promoting me to go another route. That will be about the only notable difference.
The Henning ones might be an option for you. He's made some changes on the finishes. I think silver is now available.
I might have to look into that. On Ben Stoeger's site, he has a couple worth trying if the Stainless ones I have look off.

I picked it up today and went right to work putting it together. I love it!!!! ;D

looks awesome. I hope it shoots as good as it looks :)
I just pulled them all out to measure trigger pulls. This one has the least amount of take-up!
Limited 10mm 2lbs (I personally don't like anything less)
Super Match 2.5lbs
Limited 9mm 2.5lbs
Limited Pro 3.5lbs
I'm going to wring it out in the morning ;)
Hot damn, that looks amazing. Excellent work! I bet it shoots twice as good as it looks.
Thanks! I compared the Chrome job to my others and the work is better than factory.
Not a single hitch today. I had to get familiar with the better trigger, but flawless like it was before the overhaul ;D
Any opinions on base pads? Does what I went with look better than the factory Gold Match pads?
If you're going for sheer accuracy in your reproduction, I'd say you should go with the Gold Match ones. However, if you want something a bit more "custom" (as if the whole thing wasn't already) I'd say the base pads you went with are a nice, subtle, accompaniment. They're low-profile and totally functional, even if they don't add as many rounds as the Gold Match ones might. I think the ones you have on currently are pretty slick and fit quite well overall; the only thing I'd think of changing would be to make them more of the brushed-look that the frame is instead of the polished finish they have currently. That would look awesome and truly custom, in my humble opinion. Otherwise: it still looks amazing. Very well thought out and executed. Great build.
Thanks for the feedback.
The factory pieces are $90 each. Nuts for those little buggers!
Jeesh, that seems a bit excessive... I guess if you're a true perfectionist-type collector then it's no matter (especially considering the $2,000 price tag for the gun itself) but since you're more of a builder rather than a collector of this piece, I say go with what you're most comfortable with.
that thing is beautiful.. I be jealous.
