Title: Kimber Custom TLE/RL II 10mm
Post by: cwall64 on January 08 2015 01:27:31 PM MST
I have always wanted a Kimber, but never purchased one (been a S&W or Glock 10mm fan), does anybody have any comments on this Kimber?  Good, bad, whatever...

I do like 1911 and 10mm.  But...for my money I don't think you are getting much value in a Kimber over a RIA.  The Rock Island is a solid gun based on reviews here, and is at a much better value point.

I tend to agree. I've got a Kimber, just because I've always wanted one. It'not the TLE, which I've heard are nice. Mine is the Eclipse. It is nice but I tend to carry and shoot the RIA more. I had a minor problem with the Rock on the first box. Mine was an early model that came with an 18 lb recoil spring which caused a damaged reverse plug. They sent a new plug and 20 lb spring. It has run like a clock every since. I put a little heavier spring in when running something stout.
Concerning the spring, the Rock does not l7ke the 18 but the Kimber does. I did change the mainspring on both to 25#. Steve

I have a ria and a tle, out of the box the kimber is better. That being said I carry the RIA and prefer it.

I'm new here. I was debating the two. To me the RIA had too many stories behind it of people having to send theirs back once or twice to get a right one. I hate having to do that so I went with kimber.

The RIA, to me, simply has an amazing trigger right out of the box. I had to work on the Kimber to get it somewhat closer in that regards. The trigger on it was not shabby either. That is why I no longer own a Glock. The front strap checkering on the Kimber is a plus but a piece of skateboard tape on the RIA fixed that. Steve
