Post by: Aod10mm on January 04 2015 03:51:10 PM MST
I did not see it on Glock's website but I saw this:

http://gunssavelives.net/gear/two-new-glock-models-for-2015-leaked/

Yep, I've already bought my optics for it. I will be getting one soon as they are released.

In comparing the picture of the G41 to the picture of the G40, it appears that the barrel could be as long as 6 inches which would be excellent.

Others have said it, but I gotta agree.  There will be more confusion over the Glock 40 in 10mm than there was over the Glock 22 in 40.  I gotta think someone at glock is just yanking the chain when they decided this gun should be model 40.

I was always under the impression that the model # (17, 19, 20, etc...) was just chosen by using the order in which they were patented.

If guys don't know the model # they can learn it or look silly when they don't know.

They are.  But they are releasing several new models.  They could have ordered them differently.

I wish They were gen 3 style, i dont care for the gen 4 frame texture much or the backstrap deal.
But, i may just have to trade in a few i dont shoot much to get one of these.. I know a dealer friend of mine will be high up on the waiting list. He sells a ton of glocks.

I'm chuckling to myself in agreement with sqlbullet, the model numbers associated with Glocks are definitely confusing given their correlation with caliber. Yanking the chain is so true, you know someone is sitting in their office chair somewhere in Austria snickering to themselves at the self induced irony.

That said, if these articles are legitimate and Glock will be releasing a factory long slide 10mm I say to you, HELL YES!

Although, the Modular Optics Systems is also a little confusing. Forgive me, I'm a little out of the loop on what it takes to mount an RMR type sight on your Glock, but I'm under the impression that the slide needs to be milled to accept it? Or at least drilled/tapped to accept a rail on which to mount the sight? Someone please set me straight, I know a few members here have setups like this. I like them and I get the point entirely, it's just that I would hope if Glock is finally going to offer the factory 10mm longslide, that they'd leave it to the customer if they wanted to do something like mill their slide out, and give us a model equal to the new G41 with regard to features, just in 10mm. I also agree with rw, a Gen 3 setup would be much more appealing to me.

Yes, looks like it is 6 inches. Definitely longer barreled than the G41. I would prefer that it be in a Gen3 platform. But, this is appealing.

I wonder since there will be increased slide mass (unless they intentionally take weight out) if this will solve the Gen4 G20 FTF issues?

The extra mass will definitely slow the slide down.  If, as many of us think, the issue is related to the slide velocity, then it should alter the results.

Hope they don't have that big open hole on top of the slide like the G34-5, but filled in like the G41 (assuming the slide is the same narrow width as the G41).  They mill the inside of the slide to get just the right amount of slide weight on the previous models.  It seems that the optics (& base if used) would add new dynamics needing RSA adjustment too.

It looks like the G40 will keep Austria busy for a while while I wait & see how this MOS works out...  Like the Trij RMR without a battery has a 7MOA dot & to get their smallest 3 1/4MOA dot ya got to add a battery  :o

It is based on when it was patented, talked to a dealer buddy of mine today and we talked about the 40. Glock rep told him it's been designed for a few years.
I did tell him I wanted the first one he gets.

I just finished building a G20SF Longslide. The timing is amazing!  :'(

But I still have the standard slide, so there is that.  ;D

Plus I have the matched set of 6" barrels.

I did not see it on Glock's website ...

The site is showing the GLOCK 40 Gen4 MOS today

SHOT '15 Media Day had a Leupy Deltapoint optic on a standard width longslide G40.
