Title: Accurate #7
Post by: Seabeeken on December 28 2014 06:58:00 PM MST
Tried my first loads today in my Glock 21 in 10mm. Accurate #7 is hard to beat. One ragged hole at 20 yards using 180 gr XTP.
Titegroup and N-105 shot almost as well. It is an inherently accurate round. Hard to make it shoot bad. I cant wait to try the 200 gr XTP.

How much AA#7 powder did you use?

10.9 gr of #7. According to the book, it should be around 1100 fps. I haven't chronod the load yet.

Thanks for adding the load info...

In an effort to duplicate an Underwood loading from a pull-down I tested the following loadings using LOVEX D037-01;
*(LOVEX D037.01
High density, double base, ball propellant similar to Accurate No. 7
designed for 9 mm NATO carbine ammunition. Somewhat more
specialized in applications than D032 and D036, it is well suited to high
intensity cartridges. It is a good choice for .357, .41 and .44 Magnum
cartridges, when slightly less than full powder loads are preferred.)

The data shown for LOVEX tracks the AA#7 exactly...

#1 (0.5 grain over highest AA#7 book loading)
Rainer 180gr HEX Plated HP
Star Line (new) COAL is 1.2550"
LOVEX D037-01 12.0 grains
From the Glock 20SF Factory barrel Wolff 22lb spring and recoil rod \
Velocity 1128 FPS
Case expansion 0.4320"

#2 (1.0 grain over highest AA#7 book loading)
Rainer 180gr HEX Plated HP
Star Line (new) COAL is 1.2550"
LOVEX D037-01 12.5 grains
From the Glock 20SF Factory barrel Wolff 22lb spring and recoil rod
Velocity 1238 FPS
Case expansion 0.4330"

#3 (1.5 grain over highest AA#7 book loading)
Rainer 180gr HEX Plated HP
Star Line (new) COAL is 1.2550"
LOVEX D037-01 13.0 grains
From the Glock 20SF Factory barrel Wolff 22lb spring and recoil rod
Velocity 1285 FPS
Case expansion 0.4335"

NO SMILES! ;D

Titegroup I good, but I wasn't crazy about it for 10mm. I don't remember the numbers but it chrono'd way lower than I thought they would. 4.8-5.2 grains pushing a 200gr XTP. Like, my Hoyt bow shoots faster. Nearly.
