Damn this is tempting.

Why not, I did. They go used for almost as much, sometimes even more. Your money, etc. ;)
Or this one: http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=300607160
Nice guy, doesn't take checks from 'Jerkwater areas......." , charges twice the going rate for shipping, add on for Paypal?. Oh, look where he's from........explains a lot. bleh.....
My Wife would probably kill me especially since I just sent for a replacement .22. If it wasn't for that I would right now! Hopefully someone here snaps it up.
Hopefully that K2 makes it out later this year for another 10mm option. I did hold a Glock .40 4th Gen with no back-strap on and it wasn't awfull. I could possibly warm up to a Glock... possibly.
If I only had the money >:( That is a good find hope some one here snaps it up.
Went back to look and its gone. Made my decision for me.
I like those decisions. Unless it is gone because it was half it's actual value. I have seen a couple of those too. Missed a Garand in the local paper one time. Seller wanted to sell it fast, so he listed his dads CMP Service Grade for $250. I called 15 minutes after the add was placed. I was fourth or fifth on a growing list of people who would take if the first sale fell through.
Hang in there. YOu will find a deal on a 10XX someday.

It's the same place I bought the one from last week. Bought it less than an hour after it was listed. Keeping watching if you're interested, they had several they were going to sell. All NOS. Looks like they're waiting about a week before listing another.
Fixed or adjustable better?
If you are refering to the S&W's, I would say it depends on what you want it for...quick target aquistion fixed or hunting or fine target work the adjustibles have a more refined sight picture!
I'm going to take the heat for this :o
Like the Razorback I called the number and they have more so another good deal. I opted for a fixed sight unit (big ears kind of look weird) plus I can change to any Novak sight I think. Since it is NIB, no fees and good on the shipping rate I couldn't pass it up. Even if it turns out I don't like it as much as I imagined I can get my money back I think.
I should be able to pick it up in about 10 days from now.
THEY HAVE MORE SO GET YOU ONE!!
Down there in the sig LOL
Indeed, they do have more. ;) I take it your state has a waiting period? Mine was at the FFL's business the next morning.
I don't think you can lose on the deal as the last two I've followed (used) went for over 800. One only had one mag.....
I need to locate 1 or 2 mags. It will be here Friday but I do have a wait period. I was shocked I didn't have to do the spent shell casing on it. Anything new before 2002 doesn't need it so it saved me some on that!
Midway still lists new mags for them. I was waiting for a 'sale price' ;D Not sure what you mean about the casing as it's a non-issue in GA. Just another useless item like the small padlocks that are 'required' somewhere.

I think he meant the "alibi" cartridge cases. Fire a round or two, and the state keeps them for the record.
Brownell's had a blow-out mag sale a couple weeks ago. I think I saw a long list of S&W's. If they had 10's, they might still. Prices off-sale aren't great, but OK. Shipping is fast.
Thanks, I'll check Brownells.
Ordered one from Midway for $33 but it's backordered until 9/2.
Backordered? Guess that means no sale anytime soon. ;D
Ordered two 22lb Wolff springs too. That should make it good to go for the hot stuff after the break-in.
Duh.....I should have thought about that when I ordered another Chrono yesterday. Nachez was also BO'd on the mags.
FFL called and I go to sign the paperwork tomorrow. Then the wait starts!
I will take some pictures while there tomorrow... I know same as any 1006 but this one is unique because she's mine :o

Exactly. ;)
No pictures. Too packed so I will when I pick it up. I didn't know it had two mags in the box but what grip for it because the stocker is pretty hard!
I think Hogue is about all that's available without getting into custom makers wares.
The stock derlin is hard but the texture works in you hand or with a glove. The Houge rubber or wood give a larger filling feel with the rubber being better to absorb recoil. Just be careful removing the grip panels, and putting them back on don't force it.

You can get the sleeves with finger grip molded in which are nice too with out addin too much bulk!

I will give it a whirl with the stocker and see. Man the 22lb Wolff springs look long as crap!
Just holding it today I don't know if the grip will ever be as nice as the Witness or even Dan Wesson.
Does the 1006 take normal Novak cut sights? I wonder if TruGlo TFO's would fit it? I'm hoping I can grow into the grip but don't know if it will ever feel like the Witness guns.
I have no idea on the type sight cut on the rear slide on the Smith. These are available if it tells you anything of the cut:
http://www.opticsplanet.com/trijicon-sa02-sw-45-10mm-adjustable-night-sight-set.html
Novak site mentions milling required:
http://www.novaksights.com/products/sights/models/s&w3rd45.html
I mentioned in another thread that I found the grips to be somewhat 'thin'. After shooting it few more times I haven't noticed it as much. Never shot a Witness but I'd think it would be close to my CZ-75B in feel.......double stack is always going to be thicker. The Smith is even thinner than a 1911. Smith made some palm swell grips, IF you can find a set now. Since I have quite a few different pistols I try not to get to wrapped up in the differences of the sights, grips and triggers. Much easier, and cheaper, for me to adapt to the differences. ;D
I pick up the 1006 next Tuesday. Picked up a $10 gun case (I can't believe they put them in cardboard), Armscor ammo and a Hogue grip. I like that the case and grip are made in the USA and although some of the Armscor doesn't stay here it's made in Montana. I like this case better than the Made In China! ;D

Cleaned it up with Ballistol and put it it's new home. I'm headed out now to wear it out and do a Chrony on a couple of ammos with it!

I did Chrony with the new 1006 today using a new box of Armscor. All my questions answered in one day but then I knew the answers. Got this from Gene today:
I tested some 10mm ammo a while back and it Chronographed better than current lots. Any reason why the newer stuff isn't as good? Does BVAC do the loading?
Like
The double action killed me today. First two shots in DA I nailed the Chrony head on. That plate has paid for itself about 5-10 times already!
Put the Hogue grip on today. Pretty straight forward and an improvement. I'm liking it!
What do people do on the triggers? I'm spoiled with my other pieces because the take-up is pretty long in SA.
Checkout the super short reset on the trigger...it rivals the Sig SRT.

You know, if you shot anywhere near as much as you post, that might not be a problem. Just sayin....
I'm not following. What do you mean?
I think it's excellent that you chrono all of those different loads from different 10MM guns. The whole focus of this forum is on a single cartridge. If we can't evaluate, dissect, analyze, scrutinize every minute detail of the round and the guns that shoot it then what's the point?
You mean Yondering? He vanished and hasn't come back to explain his comment. I will do the same until I understand what all that was.

Just keep on keepin' on. Some/many of us really appreciate your efforts, personal expense, and reports. I don't usually use commercial ammo, but know many people who do, and they seek my advice often. Your reports, although not conclusive (nor are my claims/reports, to anyone other than me), may be helpful to many people. Two thumbs up from me! (FWIW)
I'm hoping the previous comment was nothing more than sarcasm (as I thought originally). In which case, funny.

I haven't been paying attention to this thread. I was poking fun at ya a little bit, in reference to about every other post on this forum being one of yours, but being inexperienced enough at shooting to hit the chrony because of a stiff double action... No big deal, just a little friendly sarcasm. We need one of those smileys with the guy poking the other guy with a stick...
Not sure how anyone thought my comment was in reference to ammo testing?
Brand new pistol first two shots out of it should have target shot instead of with a Chrony in place. The last 1 1/2 years nothing but single action, so the smallish window of Chrony shooting bit me by pulling it low in double action to smack the steel plate.
I post to share all the info I can but will stay off here. It gets stale without anything new or info but you can fill the gap. I did make a video of my 1006 trigger pull since so far it is the worst of any firearm I have ever owned. Chao
Hey IC, I hope you stay around and as said, thank you, not only for the info, but for taking the time to post it all. This being a caliber specific site it's not going to have the traffic of an all inclusive type gun forum. As membership grows I'd think the posts per day and such will pick up. :D
Even if the trigger pull isn't up to spec in relation to your other platforms, it looks like a pretty solid platform overall. What's next, a Gen4 OD G20 SF with a 6" accessory barrel and Ghost trigger set up?
Intercooler, yes the triggers leave a little to be desired on the S&W's with the 1086 & 1046 DA only being about the best, but you can get a good feel for it with some practice. The take up is long but the reset isn't that long for follow ups.
BTW it looks like yours is in great shape, it appears the trigger play spring is working correctly, sometimes those do crack over time.
Get out and shoot that thing some!
Thanks for the video though!
You are just spoiled with 1911 triggers. The Witness Match isn't bad either.
Your're right SB, It just ain't fair to other guns when we judge them. We may not consciously think we are doing it, but we ARE comparing those other triggers to our 1911s. :-X
