Title: Glock 21 conversion
Post by: Seabeeken on December 10 2014 03:20:00 AM MST
I just converted my Glock 21 to 10mm. I installed a 20 lb recoil spring. Should I install a stronger one or is this one sufficient.

Shoot-n-see.  If it runs reliably then I would leave it alone.

Seabeeken, congrats and welcome to 10mm...
About the recoil setup, you didn't mention what generation G-21 you are working with.  The 20 lb spring may handle most of what you will be shooting, however higher impulse ammu could require an even stronger 22 lb or 24 lb spring set.

I have a 3rd gen G-20 that I run a 22 lb on a Wolff non captive stainless steel rod, I have a 24 lb that I use on occasions when testing upper limit ammo.

It's a Gen 4. Hoping to get out this weekend and shoot a few loads I've been wanting to try.

The 20# spring should be OK.

I put a Gen3 G20 barrel in my Gen3 G21 slide with the stock recoil spring: The G21 and G20 use the same weight recoil spring. I didn't notice any problems with shooting regular 10mm ammo. I did not try max pressure Underwood or Buffalo Bore ammo.
