Title: New Gen 4 Glock 29 Owner!
Post by: 10mm-Admirer on November 28 2014 10:37:08 PM MST
I posted an ad to sell an extra Glock 20SF I had but ended up trading it for a truly like new Gen 4 Glock 29. The G29 is completely stock and has the "dot" connector.

I have become a 10mm fan in the last 8 months and have acquired a Glock 20SF, a Kimber STII 10mm and now a Gen 4 Glock 29.  I also reload for the 10mm.

I tolerate 10mm recoil well in the G20SF. The G29 does have a significant amount of snappy recoil with the hotter loads but is manageable. I think the 4th gen grip texture does help my grip on the gun as the G29 wants to move around in my hands when firing.

Last week I shot 52 rounds of ammo representing all power levels and variations of 10mm bullet types. The G29 fed and fired all of them with only 2 FTEs. Accuracy was excellent. I noticed the brass didn't fly quite as far from the G29 as it does from my G20.  The cases did not have excessive bulging from a loose chamber.

I'm going to have fun learning to carry and handload for this pistol.

Any suggestions about carrying it, mods, ammo or accessories for a G29?

Beautiful G29!

I am just thinking out loud, but the gun should not fail to extract twice in 52 rounds fired.

Just a thought, but you might want to lock your wrist when you fire the 29. This is even more so than for your G20.

Good luck and please let us know if this helps.

Congrats on the 29 and the addiction is real!  :o
I carry my G-29 or G-30 in the JS IWB holster, single piece of Kydex which is molded around the gun, it has two adjustment screws to hold the firearm securely, it a has a molded in clip over the belt loop.

I also have the Pearce +0 magazine plates that provide a contoured purchase for the pinky finger on the 10 round mags.  Then I have a few of the sleeves for the 15 round mags.

I also have the Wolff Gun Springs Two piece non captive recoil rod with their 21 lb spring set, (19 lb, and 23Lb are in the range bag)

Oh yes I have a few conversion barrels too...

I think the FTE's were with weaker/lighter handloads and one of them I am sure I limp wristed so I'm not concerned. Both happened with the same mag so I marked it for further testing.

I had no trouble with any other loads including some warmer high impulse loads with Longshot.

Shadow, I have the Pearce extensions on two mags but not on two others for deeper concealment. Interestingly Pearce Grips is just down the road from me and Mrs. Pearce   was registered for one of my CHL classes but couldn't make it for health reasons.

"10":

I just got my Glock 29 G4 about a month ago also.  Playing around with options right now - WAY too many.  This is going to take some time.

Great gun - good choice.  I was surprised by how LITTLE DROP OFF there was from my Glock 20 G4???

I installed a smooth faced trigger without difficulty last night and it feels much better to me. Nice inexpensive upgrade.

I also installed a new Pearce grip extension on a new magazine. Two mags have extensions for the range or home defense and two do not for deeper concealment.

I also received a spare recoil spring assembly just to keep on hand. I always keep a new spare for each pistol in the unlikely event one breaks and the pistol is dead in the water.

The G29 is a keeper.  Now I just need some time to shoot it more and chronograph some loads to compare to my G20SF.

My answer to the smaller grip on my G29sf with the hot loads - works for me,

Looking good there. Much easier to carry than most other 10mm platforms.
