This powder maybe LOVEX D037.2, I have never seen it and don't know if it is even being shipped to the states or under other names!  The weight suggest AA#9, but it is clearly a different powder (with tear drops, flatten ball and micro spheres)

I will have to look back at the new Federal Trophy Bond pull-down. Similar?

Osageid, I would welcome your efforts and pictures.  AA#9 did change since Western Powder became the marketing company.  This powder is different than any of the AA#9's I've seen.

I have the older AA#9 which is "Micro Beads" almost black color and the newer AA#9 is "flattened ball" with a gray to silver look.  However this powder has a different texture as mentioned.

Yes, that is the "NEW" AA#9 like I have on hand, but if you look you will not see those tear drop and long flattened rods that this powder exhibits.

Your welcome, it helps us all and it is only part of why I like doing the pull-downs.  The main thing is to preserve the history through these documentations.

Now to find out if this powder that Underwood used here is LOVEX or if someone is making a new powder or importing this stuff.  But it is an interesting study! ;D

While that picture is in my files the LOVEX data suggest LOVEX D037.2 as a better powder fit performance wise and is similar to AA#9
(https://s20.postimg.cc/4si8xisml/IMG_0226_zps8f125c7f.jpg)

LOVEX DO37.1 is similar to that of AA#7

First post on this forum, love what you all have done.

I am not saying this is the powder but does anybody remember that
article about AA#8, I think it was titled, It must be something I eight.

Don't think they made it available to the public.

Hello and Welcome to the forum Happy2shoot.  I remember several things about people talking about AA#8 but I don't think it ever existed, I could be wrong!  (Did AA skip #8 or discontinued years ago? I have no knowledge ???)

What I do remember was a guy that was mixing/blending AA#7 & AA#9 to get somewhere in between as an AA#8 if you will.  He played around with small batches posted a few results but haven't heard more than that.  I don't like that process no matter how precise the mix...

This particular powder that was found in this loading had me searching my hard drive for a match, while I can't be 100% sure I think the LOVEX D037.2 is about as close as it gets till I find otherwise.

I do welcome others to provide data for review to help in the process.

Well today I managed to test the D037-01

For the first test I have put together the following loadings;

#1 (0.5 grain over highest A#7 book loading)
Rainer 180gr HEX Plated HP
Star Line (new) COAL is 1.2550"
LOVEX D037-01 12.0 grains
From the Glock 20SF Factory barrel Wolff 22lb spring and recoil rod \
Velocity 1128 FPS
Case expansion 0.4320"

#2 (1.0 grain over highest A#7 book loading)
Rainer 180gr HEX Plated HP
Star Line (new) COAL is 1.2550"
LOVEX D037-01 12.5 grains
From the Glock 20SF Factory barrel Wolff 22lb spring and recoil rod
Velocity 1238 FPS
Case expansion 0.4330"

#3 (1.5 grain over highest A#7 book loading)
Rainer 180gr HEX Plated HP
Star Line (new) COAL is 1.2550"
LOVEX D037-01 13.0 grains
From the Glock 20SF Factory barrel Wolff 22lb spring and recoil rod
Velocity 1285 FPS
Case expansion 0.4335"

NO SMILES!  Primers look pretty good. Based on this test I would say the Underwood load is this powder...
