I was wondering if anyone has loaded 10mm with VIHTAVUORI 3N37 ?
Is it an easy powder to work with?
Likes and dis-likes of the powder.
I would appreciate any comments on the usage of this powder. Thanks in advance!
Well I haven't read where many have used the 3N37 power, although it is shown as being used across a wide variety of bullet weights in the VIHTAVUORI 2002 thru 2012 published data. 3N37 is a little faster burning than 800X
I do remember people mentioning do NOT use magnum primers with the VIHTAVUORI powder.
VIHTAVUORI powder is one I haven't worked with because it was not available by the local suppliers...sorry!
If you do work with it please post your results, I'd be interested in seeing how closely to the published data it performs.
Best regards! :D
An article in Handloader several years back showed this powder to be a VERY strong powder for 10mm. But it is hard for me to find, and generally quite spendy.
If I got a good deal on this powder I would not pass it up, but so far I haven't been desperate enough when I saw it available to spring for it.

The June '08 issue of Handloader # 243 had an article on loading 10mm for a Kimber. In it VV-N350 was used and gave impressive results. I could never get to the Speer manuals max load with the powder without smilies......well under Mr Pearce's loads.
Seems I remember some info on 'The Ten Ring' about 3N37 from a guy in Europe. Haven't looked at the site in a long time though.

Most of the recent stuff is written by robert91922 in Slovenia, Europe over at Glock Talk in the 10mm reloading forum http://www.glocktalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=203164 (http://www.glocktalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=203164)
I re read through his info before I posted here earlier, it seems he worked a lot with 3N38 and I couldn't find any 3N37 test.
BTW, Robert and I have communicated several times and he is a very nice individual! Wish he and I could get together sometime over lunch...
My current load is with Vihtavouri 3N38. Works quite well. Nearly fills the case to capacity, clean burning and produced a very accurate load. I'm pushing a 165 grain Sierra Sports Master hollow point at 1350 fps.
Shadow, that's what I was remembering then. Off by one......I'll try to do better. :)
I appreciate the help , Thanks
I'm going to be working this stuff very, very slowly ....I've got a lot of reading to do.
I plan on loading 200's <maybe! 180's , 165's , 155's , 150's , and ofcourse 135's Speer & Nosler. This will take me some time but I'll keep a record and my thoughts of this stuff. Thanks again
That is what I get for citing an article without checking it. It was N350 in the article I was thinking of.

You told me about the article a couple of years ago and I bought the back issue. Wasn't sure it was the same one as they may have covered 10mm in more than one issue. Then I missed the website and the powder on my failed advice. Makes me 0 for 2, I guess. :-\
