Yesterday I took 2 people that I work with to the range. One of these people has shoot before but not alot. The other one was uneducated about guns. His stance was that he didn't understand the fascination with gun but with the recent mass shootings has had him thinking about getting one because "You just never know anymore these days". Until yesterday, he has never fired or held a gun. I brought almost every gun I own out. I had 357 Mag, 38 Special, 9mm, 10mm, 40SW, .233 (bolt gun) .243 Win, .22 Sig Mosquito, 44 mag & a DPMS LR308. He shot them all. Starting at the bottom and working up. We went through a little saftey and which each gun is and how to handle them. Took a couple of apart to show the inner workings. He asked question and I answered them. In the end, we filled a coffee can full of brass. The one gun that was his favortie and will be the one he will purchase after going through to obtain his permit to purchase (required here in MN)....you guessed. The Glock 29 10mm. I made 50 of lowered powered stuff for him to try and then some of my loads I am using and 25 rounds of Winchester 175gr Silvertip. He went through 100 rounds of 10mm. Hes going to buy one, enroll into some basic pistol classes and eventually obtain his permit to carry. Just thought I would share.
That is awesome. Amazing that so many people are correctly reacting to these tragedies by asking "what would I do to protect myself" and not trying to provide nanny state type false protection.
Hey good for you and your co-workers, that's a nobel quest to get non-shooters on board and interested...part of my reason for sharing info on the web is to educate people about all things gun related and the handloading aspect. 10mm just happens to be my favorite! ;D
A good story like that just makes my whole day go smoother. Glad to hear it!
Good for you guys! Just a side-note, they're not "non-shooters". They're NON-THINKERS! :D
Very good. The more the better.
