Title: New to 10mm and in deep!!
Post by: livn68 on October 18 2014 09:24:28 AM MDT
Hey guys,

About two months ago I made a trade for a gen 3 G20SF. By the time I shot the first round, I knew I was in trouble! I got my dies and components as well as did some work on the trigger, RSA (SS guide rod and 22# ISMI) and an extended slide stop lever.

About a month ago I decided with certainty that I'd be using this pistol for Wisconsin whitetails, so a long slide was in order. While in the middle of that project, I traded my former XDs 45 for a Gen 3 G29SF. I love this pistol and it carries like a dream with one of my holsters in the appendix position.

Well yesterday the mail lady dropped off some precious cargo from LWD and I dropped everything to assemble my slide. All I can say is wow! I love this thing!

Yesterday I went to the gun show down the street to browse for components and whatnot. It was a total let down, other than the  Burris FFII I found after my fifth pass through the show. He claims he only used it for one 3-gun match and didn't care for it. I picked it up for $100. Just need to pick up the glock mount and I'll be ready to rock! I'll probably go with the Springer Precision mount.

I plan to cerakote the slide but am still deciding on color. One of the newer LGS offered to do the slide, barrel, and small parts in exchange for a couple of custom holsters.

Here's some pics of my newly developed 10mm addictions :)

Sure! I didn't want to break any rules by plugging my business. My website is www.PoliteSocietyHolsters.com. I have to add more pictures to my site, but if you're on facebook, you can find a few more pictures.

Welcome to the forum!
I think I saw your posts of the Facebook 10mm fan page the other day.
Talking about in deep, I have a list of parts and 10mm builds to last me a couple of years!

The mail lady dropped off my Springer Precision mount for the Burris FFII. I was able to get it mounted before heading to work and man is it nice! Can't wait to get to the range and zero this bad boy!

Livn'

Welcome; you have come to a smaller (in volume) but extremely high quality forum.  We are all glad you have seen the light and are a 10-believer!  I am really curious what kind of velocities you might get out of the extended barrel vs. the standard 4.6"?

Also, how would you compare the recoil of the 29 to the 20, as I am seriously looking at the 29 (already have a Glock 20 Gen 4)?

Thanks,

Pat

I don't notice much difference, in "felt" recoil between the g29 & g20.    Velocity & and sight picture are what I notice between the two.

I own lone wolf 9x25 barrels for both platforms.  Even in 9x25 (uncompensated) the felt recoil levels are on par, for me, anyways

Buckeye 50, I have both the 20 & 29. There is a small difference in recoil, but not a huge deal. My current EDC is the 29sf so I shoot it a lot. I usually go through 100 rounds per weekend with it. They are all full power hand loads. I take my 20 along every 3 or 4 times and put 50 through it.
I have an 8" gong at 25 yard that I have no problem hitting with the 29 off hand. If you like the 20 you will love the 29! Now I see that the G40 will be out this year, guess I will have one more Glock 10mm.

I also have both the 20 and 29 in Gen4 and I'll have to say, I think I am having more "fun" with the 29 currently than the 20!  So, far when I go to the range (every couple of days) I shoot at least twice as much ammo through the 29 (if not 3x) than the 20.  I have rather large hands, but the 29 just fits...

I have the G20sf Gen3 I turned into my hunter - with a 6.6" LW barrel

My EDC ia a G29sf Gen3 slightly modified and it matches the stock G20sf for ballistics and rds and the only difference in recoil i noticed was the grip thus the 15rd mags with adapter cured that.

And yes the 29 does have a little more recoil but very easy to handle and well worth having.

The beauty of 10mm?

With 10mm you are never in too deep.

I also have a LWD and love it. I cheat a little and shoot .357Sig, .40SW, 9x25 along with 10mm!
