Title: Reloading Underwood brass?
Post by: Desolo on October 10 2014 05:11:33 PM MDT
I will be going to the range tommorrow with a box of 180gr gold dots loaded by underwood (been looking foreward to this!)...
Im aware that these are SMOKING hot, and the thought occurs to me that the brass will likely be far more stressed then what ive been shooting, will it be safe to load these casings again? Ill be watching the brass for stress just like I would my own loads, but if it is a concern ill sacrifice the brass so its not going to come back and bite me later.

Im going mainly to function test some things ive been working on on my LS Hunter, and to make sure these rounds play nice with it.... hopefully these will be just the ticket, and then i can use the 180gr gold dots as a carry load from now on :)

If you are working these from the EAA LS Hunter the brass should be just fine, based on what we have seen from Intercooler's testing!  Measured brass were good to go, but as with any 10mm brass I would inspect thoroughly and run them through a Pass-Through die setup to recondition them before normal resizing.

Good luck!  Have fun!  Don't loose any! ::)

Its actually a Para LS Hunter, but it has a fully supported ramped barrel.... this was what I was hoping to hear though!  :D

The thought of loosing brass before id even got a chance to reload it had me worried, I always look longingly at my lil' brass buddies when they bounce off of the lane wall and into the forbidden zone   :'(

Well , the Para LOVED them, and the underwoods were surprisingly comfortable to shoot aswell, so a smashing success ! Will have to order more for the stash  ;D

Good deal!! I fed my elite hunter some underwood today as well!  I really like the para as well.

What kind of Underwood did you shoot? It seems that as long as its loaded right, the Para will eat anything! ;D

I shot both 180 gr and 200 gr fmj.  I did shoot some 155 XTP through my glock 20

Btw the way Para has gobbled all my reloads thus far.  Gun has been completely flawless

I only wish more people out there had one, they seem to be just flat out awesome pistols, but who knows if anymore will get made :(

I wouldn't hesitate getting one if you want the 1911 style pistol. It was good enough that Kevin Underwood bought one and really likes it.
