Title: 200gr Nosler HP
Post by: mt10mm on August 28 2014 03:27:18 PM MDT
Found some from a local guy who loads them. He told me velocity was around 1130fps. How would these hold up to black bears and such? I know a few who carry 200gr xtp and seem to like them.

Would you trust him and his loads?  Does he provide his data of what they are loaded with?  If he provides you the load data it could be cross referenced to known data for reference.  You may want to take your barrel with you and check that they will drop in without any issues.  Better to have a case gauge.  ::)

Does he load on a progressive press? or single stage?  What about hand weighing each charge or just dropped from a powder drop?  As a side note, I hand weigh my charges for the best quality control, for accuracy and repeatability. ;D

1130 fps maybe a little low for a bear loading but they would go deep, but may not expand as much if they were driven faster.

I was thinking the same thing.  Its Granite Ammunition that is loading it. I have shot tons of his 200gr hard cast with no problems in my factory barrel.
