Title: New to 10mm ... soon anyway
Post by: Denver1911 on August 24 2014 06:48:10 AM MDT
Hi!  I just wanted to introduce myself and say I look forward to using this resource as I add a 10mm to my stable.  The gun is expected in 8 to 10 months and will be my long-range target gun.  I have been a member at 1911forum for a few years and an a long-time shooter.  I have a lot of reloading questions as I prepare and will post them in the appropriate forum.

Welcome to the forum and the world of the 10mm!  There are many handloaders here, who can help you with your reloading questions.  Good luck with the procurement of your 10mm... 8)

Best regards,  :D

Guncrafter No Name longslide.

AHHH ... well GI should make you a fantastic blaster.  Anxious to see what you come up with, ESPECIALLY in longslide form.  I did drool a little when I read that out loud but it cleaned right up as there were some napkins right beside my laptop.

Get another napkin ...

Ambi safety.  Wilson Combat adjustable rear sight.

Nickel-Boron finish.

Black GI alumagrips.

Pics to follow ... just not soon enough!  Ordered in June, quoted 10-12 months (estimate).

Well, I do have a longslide 10mm, but it's a Fusion Firearms.

Nice!  I'm excited for you! .... here is MY Fusion longslide.  You will probably also need another napkin handy.  :)

I am a straight SUCKER for 10mm longslides.  There is no better option.

What the heck finish is on that Fusion? Mine is the black oxide, it is matte, not glossy.

I opted for the ION-BOND, but I wanted the slide slightly polished while leaving the frame matte.  I wanted a slight two-toned look.  I love it!

Its no where near as nice as a Fusion or a Guncrafter, but I love it all the same:

My Para Elite LS Hunter
;D this is an "old" pic, Ive since refinished the grips ( they look much better now, they were way to heavily clear coated) and put in a Harrison ignition set.

Don't dis' that gun!  You have a fine firearm.  I'm sure it shoots as strait as any of the others ... and it's your very own!

Well there's nice, and there is is it good enough? As long as it feels comfortable in your hand and shoots well. I mean I have trhe expensive Fusion Firearms longslide hunter 10mm. I also have the $600 RIA TAC II 10mm, and I enjoy it, too. Still in love with my original 10mm, the Dan Wesson Razorback.

Nearly six months into my wait!  Hoping it arrives before spring.  I have acquired tools and supplies to reload for it.  I also have three boxes of Double-Tap, a box of Buffalo Bore, and a few other factory rounds.  Going to reload my first 10mm rounds today.

According to his 1911forum thread,

800 and 180gr bullets.  Tracy

Yep.  Gonna have 10 rounds of several charge weights ready when it gets here.  I have some plated flat point and HAP bullets.  I also plan to load up some AutoComp and some Longshot too..

So far I've only used Longshot and Penn 180 fp lead bullets.  My "hot" load (which is warm, but not near max) is 8.8gr, and I'm down as low as 5.6....which still has a decent amount of recoil.  Tracy

180-185 grain bullets are my favorite. Here is a target using Precision Bullets 185 grain moly coated and HP38 powder from my Dan Wesson 10mm.

We need more 10mm owners so that different manufacturers may start to think there might be money to be made if they make them.

Becoming an old thread.......any updates on the Guncrafter 10mm?  Curious how it shoots and what load/loads you've worked up.  Tracy
