Took my RIA 2011 to the range today for her first rounds. Remington UMC 180gr factory loads for break in before I start pushing some Ranier plated 180gr HP with Longshot out of it.
I will preface that this is my First 1911. I am used to light polymer frame striker fired .40's. It has been awhile since I owned a 10mm and it was very easy to tell that the Remingtons are loaded more for .40 performance than the Full house 10mm loads I had fired out of my last Glock 20 all those years ago.
Recoil was very manageable. I was able to get some good 8 shot groups covering about 6 inches at 15 yards. Using the top of my range bag as a rest, as well as taking my time with each shot, I put 8 rounds into 3 inches at 15 yards. If I did my part, she reached out and smacked right where I aimed.
No failures. None, Nadda, Zilch, Zip, Zero.
When I picked up my RIA, I spent a few hours, totally stripped it down and COMPLETELY degreased it.

Then took my time putting it back together. My wife is an insulin diabetic, so we have extra needles around. They make perfect pin point oilers ;) Loaded them up with CLP, RIA's recommended lube, and only put it where I wanted it. Everything works smooth as silk.

Overall, I am completely in love. After discounts and trade in (Old Savage Axis .308 and a S&W Sigma .40) it has been money very well spent.
Now I have to do some reloading! :))
Handsome firearm. The full rail is really growing on me
I went with the full rail for Hunting. I can add a small Bi-Pod to get a little more stability for those longer shots. When you figure that a 180gr bullet, at 1300fps only has an 8-9inch drop at 100 yards, that is very much Minute of Deer :D
I haven't done the figuring for my hunting rounds yet, since I am still waiting for the molds so I can load some up, find the sweet accurate load and get the chrono reading to figure out the effective range. My intent is to hunt with a 220-240gr Cast Lead bullet.
