Brass is here. Now we count.
Closed Order Placed 09/09/2014 @9:10 CT. There was a $16.20 Insurance charge that was added. Thanks to some of the generous participants I will use those extra funds sent to cover that. One of the participants pointed out to me that USPS raised their rates. 15 cents on the small box. Haven't looked to see what it is on the others.
Three to four months. I'm thinking a nice Christmas present for us. I will get a notification from Starline when it goes for platting, a few weeks before it ships.
They sell them in lots of 8,000. It comes to about $177 a thousand not including shipping. I see shipping from Starline is free but I'll have to ship to you.
I'm in for two grand.

Updates and Info, It is posted down below that there is a 3 to 4 month lead time so be patient. I am accepting Paypal gifts now so if you haven't snail mailed Paypal it. Postage is either $5.80 under 200, $11.60 up to 400 (2 X 5.80) or $12.35 for over 400. Keep looking at this post and if something is not right let me know.
Ignorant question here but why the nickel plated instead of the plain brass?
IMO Little more distinctive, easier to pick up at the range.

Are you only selling them in lots of 1,000?
I can't afford 1,000, but I
might be able to get the money for 200, and those can be shipped in a USPS small flat rate box.
.
So how does this work? when would the order be filled? Do we pay before or after? How do we pay? Thanks
If you get this going let me know I'd buy 1000 if I knew the details of paying and receiving. Thanks Jake
I'm in for 1000. I'm new to this board, but am active on 1911forum and recognize you from there. I trust shipping will be reasonable.
I'll call tomorrow and get the details. I would need money up front. I just don't have $1000 to float this.
I can't see why smaller than 1000 would be an issue. Just less brass in a box.
I probably would be good for 500.
I'm in for 500
Thanks! I would be in for 1-2k depending on timing.
Id LOVE to get some, perhaps 500 or so, but how does one pay, and how far out would this be?
From the Starline site when it comes to nickle plated brass:
Nickel plated brass is sold in Dealer quantities only. If three or more drums are purchased, then dealer prices apply.
I don't think your talking 8K, but more like 24k pieces.
Greg
Debbie at Starline says minimum order is 8,000. :)
Three to four months lead time. :( We would need to place order to start the process.
If I can collect $1416 less my $354, to place the order I'll do it.
What say ye? 3-4 months too long?
Posted it down in the For Sale Forum as well.
I have time. If you can get enough for a group buy, I can pay up front.
So is this all coming together? Since I only wanted 500, how much money we talking before the shipping price to me? I assume it e=would fit in a medium flat rate priority mail box where the weight wouldn't matter.
Sorry guys I have a day time job too.
Looks like we got either 6,700 or 7,700 claimed out of the 8,000 minimum depending on BigBehr. I was hoping some one would step up and put us over 8,000.
I'll post this over on the 1911 site and see what happens there. Price would be 17.70 a hundred, 177 a grande etc. plus flat rate USPS shipping, or if I can get a better deal at FedEx. We'll have time ot sort that out later. Cheapest USPS flat rate is like $5.50 I think and that would hold a couple hundred I would think. That would still come out to a few cents over $20/100 which is cheaper than Midway for regular brass. I always thought the nickel plated was more robust. I have some that is almost back to all brass after making it through a dozen reloads and short of the rims getting a little dogeared they look fine.
I'd get in on it if I can do like 500rounds...

BigBehr:
Are you in for one or two grand?
OK, Were on.
I won't order it until I have your cash money in my hands. I'll place the order on my debit card then, and not before I have all the funds.
DONE.
I will PM everyone here and on 1911.com with my address. Read the last post. I won't place the order until I have every bodies cash deposited in my account and cleared. I will then place order on my debit card. I just ordered some 10mm from Midway a few months back so I will try and estimate which USPS Flat rate box you're looking at for shipping. Actually I'll let you know how many cases fill how many cubic inches and then you can check it out yourself.
Put me down for 1K.
I know I'm a noob, but I'm good for it.

I got your PM, but I don't think shipping was included. When the time comes, I can pay for shipping with my USPS account and sent you the shipping label in a PDF file. You would only need to print it out, and glue it on the box. --- Or I can add the cost of shipping now.
Do you take PayPal gift? Money sent as a gift doesn't get anything deducted on your end.
.
I'm not very PayPal savvy. It might be the way to go though eh? I could just use my debit to pay them.
As far as shipping goes that sounds like a good idea. For everybody else I wsa intending to just use the USPS Flat rate boxes.
There. I think I got everyone. If not PM me.
I got 500 rounds of nickel plated in a box 7.5" X 4 & 7/8" X 4 & 7/8" 178.24 cubic inches.
Each one hundred would take up 35.64 cubic inches. The small flat rate box is 75.33 cubic inches so that would hold two hundred brass. Cost is $5.80. Cost go up from there.
Go to the USPS site to figure your cost. We'll sort that out once the brass is here.
Earl
Hey guys I had a couple expenses come up. if my 1000 is going to make or break the deal, I'm in. if its not I might sit this one out. I could really use the brass, but in kinda a tough spot.
Looks like we're still barely "behrly" able to go. I'll remove your part.
OK just let me know if that changes ill stand by my word, if we need it to make this a go.
Shipping rates for USPS Flat rate boxes.
Shipping cost will be:
$5.80 < 200
$11.60 < 400
$12.35 > 400
The Medium box is 514.24 cubic inches and should hold up to 1,400 cases.
http://postcalc.usps.com/
41.20 has been mailed
35.40 - Brass
5.80 - shipping
Thanks
Scott
$200 sent. $177 plus shipping plus a voluntary small handling fee for Earl's time.
How we doing on this thing? We have enough money generated yet?
M.O. sent.

gandog56: Read the front page. I up date constantly. Only have 6 Paypal payments, no snail mail yet.
Do we have any other specs on this ammo? How many gr? Type of bullet? If they are 180 gr, FMJ, I would be interested in 1000.
It's not ammo, just brass for hand loading.
Ohh, my bad. I thought that was pretty dang cheap for 10mm. Haha

I just wanted to say thanks to Earl for organizing this! :)
And thank you Desolo for your most generous gift. I can see where it may come in handy. I'm going to have to ask for shipping costs separately from everyone because I didn't have my shit together on shipping when I started this.
To everyone who has not included shipping so far; Shipping costs are now posted. I am accepting paypal now as well. Paypal the shipping costs if you can. It's such a small amount and wouldn't want to waste any more money than we have to on money orders and such. If I can trust you a personal check would be OK. Just the cost of a stamp then.
Can someone post instructions on how to gift money through paypal? Had a request on how to do it.
If you look at Midway's web site the cost for a hundred nickel 10mm from Starline is $20.49 plus shipping so we're only saving $10 to $20. It's not lot's of money especially if your ordering 500 or a 1,000. Only reason I was doing this was to just plain get it. Been on the notify for months now and I'm down to my last 100 of the 500 I bought a couple years ago.
It should be here 3-4 months. I would plan on four months. That's Christmas.

Hey guys, new to the forum, my hunt for Nickel Plated Starline brought me here. I noticed I'm late for the group buy, but if any one backs out, can't pay, or wouldn't mind parting with a few, I'd be in the market for 300-500.
Thanks

Hello Hoot! Welcome to the forum, maybe you can get lucky with the group buy!
Best regards! :D
Debbie say's it's going next week for processing. In now or for ever hold your peace. Really, I don't need any more complications, not that this was so complicated.
I need to let her know next Monday. If I have the late comers paypal in by then, you're in. Otherwise .....
I'm in! Thanks Earl, very much appreciated that you checked and put this all together. I know you've had had your hand in the pot since the beggining and I just got lucky with my timing.
I'd like 500, Looks like the total is $88.50. Let me know where to PayPal and send my shipping info and it'll be done promptly.
Thanks for the warm welcome shadow! New to the 10mm world but diving in headfirst. Some of these will be used to try to create some 1250-1300fps 180 HST's!

When you ship, can you put the brass inside one of those Priority Mail "Tyvex" envelopes before putting it in the box? (they are free at the post office)
https://store.usps.com/store/browse/productDetailSingleSku.jsp?categoryNavIds=shipping-supplies%3amailing-envelopes&categoryNav=false&navAction=push&navCount=0&productId=P_EP_14&categoryId=mailing-envelopes
Without the envelope, if the box tears the brass pours out like bread crumbs, and leaves a trail for the evil witch to follow. It also means I get an empty box delivered to me. I have had it happen to me before. Also the sides of the box needs to be taped shut.
Can you PM me your PayPal account so I can finish paying you for Postage.
.
I'm back at home. Going to have a beer or ten and figure this crap out tomorrow. Been a long last couple of days. Don't worry, this is at least a month ahead of schedule. No biatching, please.

my_old_glock.
PM sent.
I paypaled you some money yesterday. Let me know if you didn't get it.
Got it 338. Should have gifted it and save me 74 cents. :D
I did gift mine! ;)
Got it dog. Thanks.
Brass is here. ;D
Now we count :(
Weigh it. 500+/- 10 should be easily achievable and acceptable.
loading trays help for accurate counts, but is slower

I use 100 round ammo boxes when I have to accurately count a lot of brass.
.
My son and I did the loading tray method last night. I'll pick up boxes on my way home tonight. Should (must) be in the mail tomorrow. Going hunting this week end.
Yay! This will be great! My first batch of fresh brass 8) Thanks for organizing this!
Please be sure to tape the side of the box so the brass can't come out if the box gets a little crushed.
.
Double bagged and corners taped.
Darnedest thing just happened. It was about 9 AM Sunday and my doorbell rang. Answered the door and it was the Postman with a box. It was the 10mm brass from our group order. Fast count and the number was exactly right.
Question is since when did the USPS ever deliver on a Sunday? And they usually don't even get to my house till the afternoon on normal delivery days.
Any way whoo hoo, my brass got here!
OK, Back from camp. Brass was shipped Friday.
Sunday delivery eh?
Real pain cross referencing screen names to real names and addresses. OK not a real pain just more work. I'll try and get you guys your tracking numbers now. If you got your brass already let me know so I don't have to figure out who is who and get you a tracking number.
Got my brass yesterday. A huge thanks to the Earl for putting this together. The brass looks great. I didn't bother counting it, as I completely trust all the effort that went into this. I would do it again without hesitating.
THANKS!

Not me.
Ever think about doing a group buy of this magnitude, slap yourself.
Earl, we cannot offer enough thanks for making this happen. And, more importantly, how was the hunting?
OK, everybody should have a tracking number.
Hunting, ...
...winter came three weeks ago. Colder that shit out there. Snow ass deep. 14 to 22 is the temp. Yahoos can't walk in knee deep snow with out F 'ing up all the trails and sign. Didn't see chit. ....one deer, three red squirrels, one nut hatch and four chickadees, ... and I couldn't make out if the deer had any head gear.
Half a half gallon of Crown Royal, food on the grill you cannot buy anywhere in the world, best friends and family, I couldn't live without it.
It was one of the best times of my life.
Got my brass today !!! Thanks Earl I really appreciate all the hard work that went into this.
Thanks again
Scott
Mine arrived today.
Thanks for organizing!
Makes me wish all my brass was nickel.
I got my 200 today.
Thank you.
Got mine too! Now I just need my gun to show up ...
Mine's back in Houston. :o
When you get it let me know if the address is correct or not. I'm pretty sure we had it right on the box but I notice two afterward where the zip/town didn't match what we had on our list. The guy at the post office was a Chatty Kathy and NOT paying attention. Your's and one other had the zips goofed up and I could tell it was a number transposed and/or a fat finger hitting "2" when he should have hit "3"
I take it from this thread 10mm brass is hard to come by, I ran across this when I was ordering 9mm brass.
Only has 10 bags of 50 in stock though.

We're in for the nickel plated, you know, for the bling.

Looks perfect, was well packed.... Thanks Earl! 8)

Number one as already noted, this is nickel plated.
Number two if I wanted regular brass 500 cases from that place would cost me $145 + shipping. Ordering direct from Starline it only costs $94.50 + shipping.
Problem is the least amount of nickel plated you can get from Starline is a drum with an 8000 minimum at $177/1000. Most of us really don't need that much and wouldn't have that amount of cash if we did. Midway (when they actually have it in stock which is almost never!) wanted I can't remember how much, but it was not cheap! The deal I made with Earl was substantially less. Group buy was the way to go! Thanks to Earl for putting this all together.
Man, I sure would like to do this one again!
Stupid pistols seem to send all my 10mm cases into low Earth orbit. I almost NEVER recover all of them.

That is why I started this thread: http://10mm-firearms.com/general-discussion/40-sw-deep-throat/
But if you can't get a 40S&W barrel for your gun, it won't benefit you.
.
Not sure why you didn't start a new thread instead of resurrecting a 3 YO thread.

I'm certain it's just more fun cause he hadta know I, for one, am going to look every time it gets bumped. I'm just unwilling to miss the new volunteer that wants to make it cheap and easy to score my next brass.
I don't really need any but if you need some help getting to the total I'm in for a grand.
I would probably do 1000 myself.
;) I would like 1000. ;)
I'd be in for 1000 also.
Count me in for 1000. Nickel plated I can distinguish and separate to only run in my SBR, for example.
I guess my question is this a real thing like the first time or are we just gaging interest?
+ a grand or two
Right now it would seem to be were just gauging if we could get enough people in to make it happen. The first time I only got 500 because I only had one 10mm pistol. Now I have 3 pistols and a Mechtech CCU.
I could maybe use some.....
SO, how many we got now with my 1000?
Count me in for a 1,000 pieces
Somewhere around 7000 right now???
Noticed I didn't commit to a number. I'd be in for 1,000
Looks like we're over the top. It's 8 grand isn't it? I did it last time and it really isn't that tough an undertaking. Most, no, all the participants of the last group buy were more than patient, fair and fun to work with. I think I may have even come out $15 to $20 bucks ahead at the end of the day to the generosity of some of the participants.

So are you volunteering?
Someone else?
If not I can do it, but we will need to wait until I have free time, for sure after tax time.
I suppose I could, ....
Wait! I don't even need the brass. I was trying to help!
Hell! I will never do that again.

I would not know how to even start and I could not even begin to front the money.
No one needs to front the money. An honest person needs to be - wear many hats:
1) The collection person - get a quote with shipping to said person's location. $XXXX.XX. Tell people how much per 1000, in multiples of 1000. No lower volumes, if people want to split lower than 1000, they can partner up and do it separately. Ship in USPS flat rate box, $12.50 or so. Needs to have good record keeping that we can share.
2) Order - When money is collected. Order with credit card, deposit collected funds
3) Distribution - Must have the ability to create shipping labels and such, drop off at USPS.
I probably missed something. I can do it, but I'm pretty busy (real job and run two businesses) so there may be some lags.
