Title: Going for the first time in many months tomorrow!
Post by: Intercooler on July 30 2014 07:38:45 PM MDT
I'm packing things up for tomorrow. It's been a good bit since I last went, so I will be working up from .22LR  ;D

I usually don't take the Limited 10mm (I baby it!), but it's in the bag as the test 4.75" tomorrow. My plan was for August to be a big month and the search is on for some new test ammos. The new PBR's would be nice if I can get my hands on any.

The CTD American Quality ammo was weak enough to just start with it. I like having some weaker rounds in the heavy calibers for sighting anyway. They work best!

Hello Intercooler:
Went to the range myself yesterday to test out some new handloads in my 6.62" G20L. I loaded some 200gr XTP's over 9.5 and 10gr of Blue Dot. I also took some 180gr Buffalo Bore as a comparison.  The 200gr XTP's turned in respective velocitys of 1160fps for the 9.5' and a 1200fps average for the 10gr loads. The Buffalo Bore on the other. Hand posted a 5 shot average of 1470fps. I was very impressed considering the posted velocity is 1350fps. I think I'm going to try to squeeze a little more our of my handloads next trip.

Very good! Buffalo Bore has always just about hit rating in every caliber I have tested.

1470 is impressive Shane! You should be able to squeeze more juice out of your handloads. Just remember to work them up slowly and safely. Some of the most impressive handloads I've seen are from Longshot. I'd steer clear of 800x myself. It's been reported to not measure very well.
