Title: Hog heaven!!!!!!
Post by: ShadeTreeVTX on July 30 2014 09:05:39 AM MDT
Got your attention didn't I - up in our area in North West Georgia we have had D**k for outlets to buy ammo or powder or  or anything else. We have had to contend with gun shows to get ripped off. NOW - Academy , Cabellos,  and Bass Pro shop will all be with in 5 miles of me. WHOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!
Academy has been open for about 5 months and I have picked up 3000 rounds of 22 for $21.99 per 500 count boxs,(They limit the sale to 1- 500 count a day so that every one has a chance to get some)  the same that the gun shows were and still are selling for $50.00 and up for( now I can get that Ruger 10/22 break down I wanted but had no 22's to fire, I refused to pay $50.00 and up for them ).

I got to know a few of the gun show guys and was invited to join there little group for a price( they had an in at our WallMarts and were called when the ammo came in and at 6:30am or so went in and bought all the 22's  and other calibers - I politely refused to be a part of that - said nothing - this is good old boy country( Red neck country) and I was surprised at the people involved, gun shops and pawn shops.
Greedy A** Bast**ds. This will kill that setup now.

Cabellos opens Aug 17 week end and Bass Pro in another month or so!!!!!
Dam - I need more money for my shopping spree.
Ya'll should move to Ga - the #1 pro gun state in the U.S.A.

There's a gun show this week end and I'm going to see how bad the prices are going to be - this should kill the gouging thats been going on for the last 6 years. We will see.

Sorry Shadow - I probably posted this in the wrong place - didn't know witch one was the right one - if so - you will move it to the right one.

Have you got sunshine in your neck of the woods, yet.   ;)  :P

Ammo has been fairly regular around here....still sells out but is easier to find.

OOOYa--- we get isolated showers every couple of days - thats better than the 90 to 100+ heat  and dry we usually get. We have only had a couple of 90deg days this year so far, this might go down as the coolest summer we have had in 20 some years, thank you global warming, we had snow 5 times last winter I've lived here since 85 and other than that blizzard we had in 93, that was the most snow ever for my area. I love it.

Other than what I referred to on the gougers  and hoarders things will get alot better soon. Academy was real good for a while but all of a sudden there ammo prices shot right up, I guess they couldn't resist the urge to get in on the price frenzy before Cabellos  and Bass Pro open up.

Well see. WallMart is still doing business as usual.

The local Wally World has a supply of ammo on the shelf that is hanging around some now with exception of the 22LR.  Yes the morning crews are there scooping it up before it hits the shelves.  They have never had 10mm ammo ever! :(
So glad I handload, my own stuff! :P

I stopped at the Academy two days ago and they had some Blazer 22LR @ 1235 fps muzzle velocity (I never saw CCI on the box anywhere) in 50 round boxes, @ $2.99 each...

I'm holding out for a Bulk supply of CCI Stingers when the price is right!

Cabela's and Bass Pro Shops are 80+ miles away for me, so I don't get there often. :(

Like I said - all 3 are with in 5 miles of me ___How could I be so LUCKY!!
BUT all 3 are in almost opposite directions from me like a big triangle, I'm dead center of all three, witch way to go first, o the stress of having to make that decision each time I need or want something.

I'll pay the tax instead of the shipping charges any day.

Don't hate me - I just live here. Green is a pretty color

You guys were talking about 22's. I lucked out and found some new CCI Segmented Subsonics (say that three times fast). These things are my new favorite 22 round. Instant death on any small critters.  When the season opens I'm gonna take em squirrel hunting. My CZ 452 UL is printing about 1/2" groups at 50yrd with them. I just don't know what I'm gonna do when I run out....lol

OOOOONNNNNOO - BassProShop may pull out and not compete with the others ( cowards) - they announced that they may cancel. They already have the equipment on the land they bought and the street paved and named after
them. We will have to wait and see. Dam!- that would have been sweet with them both on Interstate 75 and 10 miles apart competing against each other and Academy - OOwell 2 is better than none.

Well they already had the regional distribution center about a mile from me in Macon, plus another store in Atlanta.....maybe they thought that was enough. ;D

Already having a Bass Road with an I-75 exit was a plus for Macon, I suppose. The store here has their 'outlet' area with closeouts & discontinued merchandise. The outlet never has guns or ammo though.

The joke around here is you look at Bass Pro and buy at Academy across town. :))

This applies to many of their stores. The same goes here. There are many LGS that are always cheaper than BPS.......the unfortunate thing is, BPS still draws a crowd and people buy those guns. BPS generally sells at MSRP, but will occasionally have 'Sales', although you have to be around when they happen.

Academy came in way under-pricing BPS....but then crept up to match them; now they run about $15-75 less...just to say they are cheaper than BPS.
