I would think that there would be some form of firearm or buddy as a backup for bow hunting.... IMO can't fix stupid ( with bow hunting anything that can f you up without backup )

Avid wild hog hunter for years.  As this video clearly illustrates, they are not docile deer.  They're bad asses and failure to respect them is a very good way to earn a trip to the hospital or worse.  They can easily get much bigger than any in the video.  After an alligator or sizable bear; they're as aggressive and dangerous an animal there is N. America.
Tough as nails too.  Personally shot a large boar in the heart from 50 yards with 308 and 165 grain premium hunting bullet, to have it run 100 yards away before pile up.  Upon closer inspection heart and lungs liquified and exit wound big as baseball.
Forget the arrows unless hunting well off the ground is my advice.

Echo Rojo27.

I've been deer hunting and they have wandered up on me.

I've jumped one while going to a stand. I've always carried a backup...whether rifle or bow hunting.  They can be unforgiving creatures!

I'm not a bow hunter but have known many. If your bow huinting a big porker, then you get what you asked for, a good mauling. Bows are for deer, guns are for mean things. Can't go wrong with that thinking...... I apologize to all the upset bow hunters but bows are an entire rung down from guns IMHO.

Bows used properly are as deadly as any rifle or pistol round - this is my brothers picture from Alaska getting his brown bear with a bow this year.

and yes he used a tree stand at 20ft off the ground and his G20c for back up. And he waited 3 to 4 hours to make sure it was dead., One arrow was all he needed. When opened up the arrow had pierced the lungs and heart= I guess you would say perfect placement.
