Title: Delta Elite at gun store
Post by: Trackdown on June 20 2014 07:13:13 PM MDT
I stopped  by a gun store on my way out of town after visiting friends.  In the case was a Colt Delta Elite for $899.  It looked a bit rough on the outside, lots of scratches on the finish and beat up generally.  I had the owner field strip it and the mechanicals looked pretty good.  I talked him down to $850 but eventually passed.  Now I'm having second thoughts.  Should I have picked it up?

You chose wisely.

Depends on if you really wanted a Delta or not. I love the older ones more than the newer ones. $850 wasn't a bad price either, most of them are a $1000+

Welll, $850 is about what I paid at the time for my NIB Dan Wesson RZ-10 Razorback 10mm.

But that was then. Now they're going about $1500 for a new one, almost twice as much. If it was all that beat up I think I would have passed too. I mean you can buy a brand new RIA for $600, maybe less. Get a lifetime warranty and a pristine 10mm 1911.

I wasn't interested in a gun to shoot so much as I was in a piece of 10mm history.  For financial reasons, however, I try to resist becoming a collector. :-\

Then find a Bren 10!  ;)
