Today was my day to ask a few questions on our local forum. Although I thought I was done with any future purchases living in MD due to the law changes. As it turns out I think I still can! The trick to it from the responses I received is the pistol has to be on the approved list and come with no magazine, 10 rounder or a modified pinned/stamped 10 rounder. This would mean if that elusive Match ever pops up I can go for it!
when you say "list" do you mean like the absurd california roster we have here where guns must have been added prior to a certain date for they are required to have a slew of additional "safety" devices post that date, and it can never be changed in any way on behalf of the manufacturer (i.e. ruger changes the material of an extractor got their SR22 kicked off the list).
So old glock gen 3 (and others prior to i think 2007 or 2008 provided they make NO changes) can stay on.
These dates are approximate:
post 2007 gun must have added magazine disconnect safety and highly visible loaded chamber indicator
post mid-late 2013 must have added micro stamping in more than one location of the spent cartridge.
not in effect yet but passed two years ago : if more than 1 "smart" gun with "owner recognized" features is approved for sale in Calfornia ALL firearms must be a "smart" gun to be put on the list.
Very similar type of list.
