Title: 10mm recommendations
Post by: TXCOONDOG on May 30 2014 06:36:20 AM MDT
I've always been a fan of .40 and the 10mm has become my new addiction.

I have a G20 with a KKM barrel and I'm looking for another 10mm.

Any recommendations ?

Tanfogilo witness match. Or witness Hunter.
Love my RIA 10 mm 1911 also, but the Tanfogilo is a better gun

Located a G29 and Delta Elite which I'm leaning towards the DE.

I'm going to see them in the morning :P

I love a good Colt but I don't recommend a DE if you plan to shoot true 10mm. I'd recommend 3rd Gen Smiths, EAA's, Glock's with modifications, or some of the 1911's with ramped/supported barrels.

What he said!  Not that the Colt DE's are a bad pistol, they just lack enough chamber support, for the higher press and impulse of the true 10mm loadings...This is why we see people offering Colt DE loadings to satisfy the shooters of the beautiful pistols without bulging the brass so bad!

I have the G-29 with the Wolff dual spring non-captive recoil rod and 21 lb spring set, it has handled everything I've thrown in it!

Good luck with your choices!

Could you be more specific for Glock's with mods, 1911's (manf and models) and 3rd Gen S&W

As far as Glock's, I'd figure in aftermarket sights, recoil springs, guide rod, and barrel (optional). I'd also get a Gen 3. Concerning 3rd Gen S&W, a 1006, 1066,or 1076. All if them are great! The 1911's are a totally different beast, I have a Para LS Hunter that has over 4,000 Underwoods through it with no problems and no mods. The RIA's seem to be popular because of price, and then you have the high end customs. A used Dan Wesson would be sweet. I have no experience with the EAA's, Intercooler is the man for that info.

I've never had the chance to shoot or even hold one, but I think a stainless Dan Wesson Razorback (with VZ black/gray Aliens) would complement my black G20 nicely. Drool.

How about the Perfect 10 by STI?

In the mean time to hold me over since I have the spending fever, I bought some Trijicon HD night sights for my 20, Gen 4

I had a Razorback and sold it. Just not a 10mm pistol IMO.

You could get a sweet single action only EAA Match or Hunter. If DA/SA is your thing a Limited Pro or Stock 2 are great pistols. Then the Holy Grail pistol from them is the Limited in SA if you like a Magwell.
