Post by: Deerslayer on May 18 2014 04:39:52 PM MDT
Can I get everyone's opinions on this gun. I hear a lot of good and bad and would like to hear from everyone. Thanks

My every day carry is a G29sf - even with my short stubby fingers it fits fine UNTIL my little finger has no grip - So to solve that little problem I use G20  15rd mags with a sleeve adapter - perfect - Now since I do like to shoot some of my HOT Hotter loads I have a firm grip on the 29 because the grip duplicates the G20sf grip - other than the LW 2port barrel the gun is stock and it eats ANYTHING I put through it.

My G-29 has been great, I use the Wolff non captive two piece recoil rod with the 21 lb dual springs, I use the Pearce +0 floor plate on the 10 round magazines and also like Doug I have a few of the 15 round G-20 mags with the Agrip adapter sleeves... ;D

I sold mine to another member here but it was set up like Shadow's, worked great. I actually shot it better than my G20 which I also got rid of awhile back. I'm not a plastic guy....

Personally, I would think far more good than bad. I will say my first wife would bitch if her  ice cream was too cold or the sun came up.

All of the S&W 10XX series, Rugers, a Javalena Longslide,a Para LS Hunter, and a couple custom jobs that are in the works (single actions)...I don't do Delta Elites either, had a bad experience with one years ago. At least it wasn't my gun  :-X

I was never a plastic guy ether lol but I have a chance of get a 29 gen3 and I'm just wondering how accurate and dependable the were. Wondering how they like the big loads like Hornady 200XTP ?

I would trust my life with my G-29 but it is the one before the SF's came out...I have mine with full power 200gr XTP ammo but carry it with 200XTP's @ 1180-1200 fps.

Like Shadow said, the standard Gen 3's are great. I'd trust my life with it too. I put Heinie straight 8 sights on mine and could bust mama's beer cans all day long at 30 yds. with no failures. I mainly carried the 165 grn. Gold Dot load from Underwood.

Had mine since 2006. No issues of any kind. Eats Double Tap and Underwood ammo with standard spring rates and barrel.

Only mods are Pearce extenders on all the magazines and a metal recoil rod assembly with a standard 17lb recoil spring.
