Title: Tidbits from the past
Post by: harrygunner on May 04 2014 03:51:51 PM MDT
Watched a "Sky King" episode and while looking for info on his "Detecto Microscope", came across this site.

For fifteen cents, Ralston cereal would send you a Tom Mix telescope/whistle that looks like a cartridge. (http://www.cinedux.com/resources/bullscope.jpg) Today, a school would be on lock-down if a kid brought the telescope to show.

There's an ad for a "pea shooter". That was actually "a thing".

Several other fascinating items from our past.

I noticed several of the toys for kids actually required them to build something and to think. What a concept.    :)

I agree. That belt buckle is cool. So many gun shaped gizmos back then, including an image projector in the form of a pistol.

Wasn't a belt buckle gun used by someone on one of the old TV westerns? I had one of the toy ones too, as a child. May still have it packed away somewhere.

Don't ask me why I've been watching old TV shows. Could be because there's more "truth, justice and the American way" depicted in them. Certainly, more innocent.

Some bad. A man asked a if a woman should be on a moon flight. She replied something to the effect of "You'll be glad to have someone to cook."   :))  Glad my daughters didn't have to deal with this as much.

Smiling about Commando Cody's rocket controls, blunt and to the point (image attached).

Discovered another site today for old shows and movies: https://archive.org/details/television

Here is the belt buckle gun I have "AGENT ZERO"...mine is missing the bullet that goes in the barrel for the caps to stick on.
