Title: Has anyone slugged their stock G20SF barrel?
Post by: nickE10mm on April 10 2014 06:06:56 PM MDT

My reloading stuff (mic, calipers, push thru slugs, etc) are all in storage but I'll be slugging my G20 barrel for use with cast bullets soon.

Just curious.... if anyone here on the forum has slugged THEIR **STOCK** G20SF barrels... what have the chamber and muzzle end of your barrel diameters measured?

Taking a survey of sorts....

I haven't done mine but someone mentioned theirs was 0.401", it can be difficult to measure if the groove is across from the land.   :-[

Yep, it can be.... Also works much better with a MIC vs a CALIPER but I'll take either.  Just dumb curiosity as I'll know my barrel's dimensions one of these days or weeks....

Nick,
I slugged the barrel in my G20SF a year or so back. It was 0.401
I believe that's common along with the 'generous' chamber.

Thanks EdMc.... Was there any difference between muzzle and chamber diameters?

If you mean 'throat' it was ~0.402-0.403 with a taper as near as I could tell due to the poly rifling. By chamber I've compared the ones on the G20SF, my 1006 and Delta.........both the Smith and Colt chambers are tighter than the Glock. Chambers were measured with pin gages. A little trade off for Glock 'reliability'. ;)

Yes, throat is what I meant. Sorry about that. I should have used the correct term. :-)

So, a ~.4025" throat tapering to .401" at the muzzle / crown?

Very nice. I'll have to use at least a .402" boolits ... That's okay I guess. I'll prob eventually go with a KKM anyways.

Thanks a lot for the info sir!!

Nick - if you're loading for only the stock Glock barrel, or can keep the loads separate, you'll get best results with the fattest bullet that will still chamber easily. Stock Glock barrels like cast bullets a little more oversized than others, and a little harder too.

Or powder coat them, size at .402, and run the same bullets in all your 10mm's with no worries.
