I have a sig extreme 1911. Im the second owner, but it was NIB when I bought it.
I insert a fully loaded magazine, rack the slide, it strips and chamber a round. Pull the trigger, it fires, slide moves reward, ejects the spent casing. As the slide is returning into battery, it strips a live round from the magazine, and feeds into the chamber, but the slide will not fully close. At times the live round get stuck in the chamber. The bullet is pushed back into its case, and I need tools to move the slide, so that I can clear round, from chamber.
What could cause this?
If the first round chambers fine when racking the slide it would seem the next round being picked up by the slide that is moving much faster is hitting somewhere and pushing the bullet into the case before it enters the chamber causing the stuck case and failure to go fully into battery.
Have you tried different mags ?
Yes sir different mags it still hangs up.
Hello Raindrops, Is the sig extreme 1911 chambered in 10mm or 45ACP or Other? Check the slide rails for proper lubricant and inspect to insure no galling is occurring.
Is this Factory ammo? Handloaded ammo? If handloaded do you Pass-through size casings? If the casings are expanded at the start of the extractor cut, most dies do not reach this area, therefore Pass-through sizing is needed to correct it.
What are the COAL of the loaded ammo being used? Is it too long? That can cause a tipping angle which can induce drag.
What about recoil & main springs is it the wrong weight? Are they damaged? binding?
Sig extreme .45 acp. Tried to hand cycle Winchester ranger sxt tonight. The nose of all 8 cartridge caught the feed ramp and stopped. Grabbed another mag with factory fmj, again hand cycling, some cycle some don't. I have drenched it it liquid frog lube, and same results
It sounds like a trip back to Sig is in order if it's under warranty for a second owner if not a good smith who deals in 1911s should be able to tell you whats going on.
Check the underside of the hook on your extractor, if it has the tiniest of burrs that will slow the next round up from feeding quick enough.
I've taken the dermal and polished everything the bullet comes in contact with, and slide rails. I've attempted to increase slide & clambering velocities.
Now inserting a loaded magazine & working the action by hand, it's feeding, all ammo types with no hiccups. Weather permitting, I'll shoot it this coming weekend
