After my friend loaned me her digitizer to try out, I found it to be very slow to work with. Anyways I had wanted to purchase a unit for years to convert these negative and slide and broke down and purchased the Wolverine F2D super 4-1, a self contained unit that works without a computer, but can connect via the USB cable for power and transfer of the pictures.
This unit will store over 36-40 pictures without any extra storage, or more can be stored to a SDHC if used with the unit.
This unit will handle negatives and slides 135mm, 126, 110, Super 8, and directly convert to digital pictures.
I had a good day of working with most all the old slides from my dad's old pictures (god rest his soul), Some of the slides were deteriorating mostly those purchased from vacations out west from Carlsbad, New Mexico, Arizona, Texas, also the Smoky Mountains. He also had some of his picture went he served in the Army, stationed in Germany and France. There were family pictures mixed in also, all in all this brought back memories for myself and my mom.
I also have many rolls of film, my wife and I shot over the years that need converting and digitizing. The new digital cameras are great. But I may have over 3000 rolls worth of negatives from one camera from 1987 through 2006.
Anyway, this will be an ongoing project, to digitize and organize memories for the family and friends to see the past brought back. ;D
I had set up a light table with a mask and used my digital camera to convert my color negatives and slides. Mostly because it is very difficult to find an consumer version that would scan/digitize 4.5cmx6cm and 6cmx6cm film. I used to shoot medium format with a Kiev88 and a Bronica ETR. Though the 120 film is still available, the processing isn't worth the cost anymore.
