Post by: krafcheck on January 27 2014 08:14:15 PM MST
when i search for these i see the springs but nowhere i have look gives the pounds.  are the new dual springs greater than the 17 pounds sent out in older generations?

From everything I've seen it is 17 lbs.

Just found this on Glockmeister. Says it is for a Gen 4 but the image shows a single spring rather than the dual.http://www.glockmeister.com/Glockmeister-Stainless-Steel-Recoil-Spring-Assembly-for-Gen-4-G20-and-G21/productinfo/G4SS20CS/

Which of these would y'all try first to see if it helps in running hotter stuff (I.e. Underwood 180gr tmj) 20lb, 22lb, 24lb?

I would go with the 24lb springs. From the few chronograph testing of springs, the 24lb springs gave the narrowest extreme spread with hotter loads. Although, TNOUTDOORS9 has demonstrated very consistent velocities with his stock Gen 3 springs if I remember correctly.

I've used a Wolff Gun Springs guide rod with a 24lb spring in a Gen 3 and it has cycled everything from light American Eagle to Underwood.

Thanks for the insight. I think I may get one, although the more I have been shooting the UW, the less problems I seem to encounter. Just one fail to extract on the 180's and no problems with the 200's last outing. Regardless, I would like to try a heavier spring just to see if I can tell if there is a difference with slide impacting the frame. I'm new to 10mm & have never changed up anything on my other Glock - a G17 I got in 1991. So it's be interesting to tinker....
