Well, I just finished running a set of 50rds out at the range, and thought I'd let you know what I got for some data.
- Starline brass
- Winchester Large pistol primers
- IMR-800X - 8.4gr
- Rainier plated 180gr RN-FP
- 1.260" COL.
I did not do an accuracy test, as I was on the rifle line with my Chrony. However, I did get a good sound average of ~1190fps
I was very surprised at the average being so high with only a mid load using 800X. Must be the 6" long slide.
Anyway, I find the Rainier plated bullets to feed and function just fine, even thoguh I only shot 50 of them. I plan to pick up 1,000 Berry's in the same design.
Has anyone here used the Berry's plated 180gr? How well do they run in your rigs? Should I consider just spending the money and going with Montana Golds instead?
I've been really happy with the Xtreme 180gr. Hollow Points over Titegroup and HS6 and you can get 10% off right now. Supposedly the plating is a bit thicker on the XT vs the Berry, at least in some bullets.
Condor, I am out of town for a week but PM me your address and I'll send you a few of the XT.
Sure, sounds good. I'll give 'em a shot. Pun intended.
I also found a good deal on a Lee melting pot. Have you ever done any 10mm casting chance? Sure would be a money saver for lots of plinking.
I haven't done lead. I'm pretty new at this, besides all my pistols are Glocks, but I do have a Lone Wolf barrel for the G20. I'm pleased with the Xtremes so far. It will be about 10 days before I can get the mail out.

1190 fps is right at the edge of plated bullets suugested max velocity. Berrry's has said should be 1200 max, and it is probably a good idea for Rainiers, too. My normal load is a 185 grain Precision Bullets "black bullet" It has like a moly coat instead of plating, but I use them to plated bullet recipes.
