Title: 38 super
Post by: krafcheck on January 23 2014 08:54:08 PM MST
anybody have one of these. Read an article that border state police know when mexicans are behind a murder when they find these casings.  they seem like a pretty sweet round.  what are these rounds similar too? slightly bigger 357sig or a 38 special in a semi? i guess i could google this but i am curious what 10mm fans think of it.  maybe i should consider this platform for my next gun.

I had one for a VERY short time....too short to load for it.  When I was researching it I seem to recall reading that when it came out it was the most powerful cartridge you could get??? Might be mistaken.  I know they're popular in countries where its illegal for civilians to own mil/law enforcement calibers because they're an odd ball but they still have a little power.  Every one i've ever seen was some flavor of 1911.  I believe they're comparable to 9mm as far as power goes.  Anyway, thats my very limited knowledge of the 38 super

I have one based on a Springfield 1911. Very sweet round with more power than the 9mm. A physically longer case by a few mm and straight walled instead of tapered gives greater powder capacity.
Popular in ISPC for many years and still in use today. I use mine for short distance ~100yrd metallic silhouettes and it's awesome.
