Title: new sights from shot show in vegas
Post by: krafcheck on January 23 2014 06:43:26 PM MST
r4 evolution looks like a sweet idea. looks kinda of big though.  what is your thoughts. my 10 needs new sights. i got the adjustable tritium and they dont glow anymore.  dont care about the glow but is annoying having them really dim with one dot completely out. was thinking hi viz until i saw these.

I agree they look like they sit up pretty high but the concept is interesting.
I like the XS 24/7 much better than a three dot setup.

those are nice.  i like the option of the smaller front dot.  i just dont like the large front dot.

how are those for accuracy?  since you "dot the I" does it shoot high? i know it depends on other factors but what would you say yours is set at distance wise (10 feet for an example) without raising or lowering your dot but stacked on top of each other? do you have the skinny or fat line?

I'm looking at these sights myself.

My hesitation would be how long does the luminescent last? Some dim after a few hours. If they are the same as others that I'm familiar with they need several hours of bright light, then dim significantly after 4 - 6 hours.

my rear sights no longer glow. well one kind of glows and the other is dead.  what yall think of blacking out the rear and changing the front to a fiber optic?  save money for ammo.  anyone have this type of set up? does it work good?

I like fiber optic sights. My eyes are getting older & I can pick them up at a poorly lit indoor range much better. Outside in bright or moderate sun they are fantastic. Some hunters love them because they show up well against a black background such as the hide of a hog.

I have Truglo TFO's on my G17 & G20 http://www.truglo.com/pc_product_detail.asp?key=5F1AB37C38B4462181FD6AF0635C3C60&catid=E5FDB84FE8F74C239330C1841BDD3D5E They combine fiber optic with tritium so they are great in any light conditions. Fiber optic lights tend to be more delicately constructed than solid steel sights, but Truglo offers a 10 year (no questions asked in my experience) warranty. They generally run around $99 at places like the Glock Store or Botach. Those sellers list only a 90 day warranty but Truglo actually covers them for their full 10 yr warranty.

Nice!  I was holding out for a Gen4 but a deal with an SF showed up locally with some extras...I jumped on it and am happy with it!  ;D
