Title: 200gr XTP - Starline brass - 7.5 - 7.7 grn HS-6 - COL 1.245
Post by: trugbilddrachen on January 22 2014 08:47:41 PM MST
Created 10 rounds - shot fine in a G20SF -

I was wondering if any one had issues with measuring COL with the XTP bullet? I am not sure if the top of the bullet is evenly flat. From a bullet I had pulled I measure from the bottom to the very very light line from my taper crimp .404 inches.

Also while I did not see any signs of pressure, just wanted to make sure this load is OK to use... my next batch I am going to adjust to 1.25.  Also  what is the quickload software mentioned.

Sorry I'm new and still reading and learning.

Thanks for any help.

Load looks good and could be increase some based on Hodgdon's data.
I don't understand you crimp of .404? ???   The bullet are 0.4000"-0.4005" in diameter for the Hornady.
The lengths can vary slightly from one bullet to the next, but the bullet seaters can also be an issue, on how it pushes on the bullet...whether on the sloped sides of the bullet's nose or flat of the nose section.  I seat at 1.2500" - 1.2525" for most of my loads.
