I have a Beretta Carcano Carbine in 6.5 Carcano that has been thoroughly bubba'd by the previous owner. It will shoot 6.5 Carcano fine, but it is no longer of any collector value.
I have been toying with the idea of getting a new barrel for the gun in 10mm. I think the bolt will work as is. Not sure what I will need to do to get it magazine feed, but I think I could adapt 1911 mags.
What say you? Should I make this my next project gun? The other option I am considering is 7.62X39.
I think it would be a cool project, if it lost all its value then you might as well turn it into something fun.
Well, here is the plan.
I found a carcano on GB with all the right parts to put mine back to original issue condition. The one online has a shot out barrel and is missing the internals of the bolt.
So, If I win that one, I can return mine to it's glory as a 6.5 Carcano, and have an action left over to use as the basis for my 10mm project gun.
You Sir, are an addict. I'll be seated next to you at the support group, someday.

Did you go anywhere with this?

The guns at auction went for insane prices. I am back to watching the paper for one local. I see them from time to time for less than $100.
And I got distracted by the parkerization/cerakoting of my witness.
