Hi-
I'm a newbie here, I just purchased a new RIA 1911 10mm and it came with only 1 magazine. Would Wilson Combat, Colt or other brand magazines be compatible? Could you guys give me some recommendations?
Thanks, Pat
I find that Check Mate from Top Gun seems to be the best buy (lowest cost, but 8 round) and think Tripp Cobra (9 round) are the best there is, but some Wilson folks might feel differently. Any should work in your Rock.
I have one and I use either the magazines from my dan Wesson rz-10 or chip McCormickthe dan Wesson seems to work better
PB64, welcome to the forum and congrats with your RIA 1911 introduction into the world of 10mm!
Best regards, :D
Thanks for the welcome and the magazine advice, guys. I look forward to using this forum as a resource to learn more about my next 10mm purchase, probably a S&W 1006.

Yeah, I'd agree, check-out Chip McCormick
He makes great Mags for them 1911 in 10mm
If it weren't for the fact that I have all Colt Mags for my DGC, I'd run his stuff
Hello all. New to this forum, but not new to shooting or the 10mm. I purchased an RIA TAC 1911 II FS in 10mm, got it home and was unable to get the slide to lock back with an empty magazine inserted in the gun. Switched out the stock RIA magazine with magazines from a Kimber (Eclipse Custom II), a Dan Wesson (RZ01) and a Tripp magazine - the Tripp solved the slide-lock problem and worked the best. I was eventually able to get the gun to lock back with the stock RIA, but needed to shoot ~100 rounds through it first. Here is the link to the Tripp magazine <http://www.trippresearch.com/store/store_1911.html (http://www.trippresearch.com/store/store_1911.html)>. Hope this is of some help.

yeah,i had the same problem with mine as well.tried 3 different mags and still didn't work so I modified the slide catch portion of the magazine on an anvil and made it work.no problems since then.
On the RIA 10, the problem is on the slide lock. It doesn't go deep enough into the magazine to allow the follower to catch and hold open the slide. Pulled the slide lock from my kimber, and inserted it, into the RIA, and it functioned perfectly on all my mags. Seems the catch on the RIA slide release is 2/1000ths shorter than the kimber. I'm thinking of contacting RIA, and see if they will send me another slide release lever.
My input is that WC 10mm mags feed good, no lock back. RIA sending new slide stop. May have to mod it.
Chip McCormick makes kits so that your regular 8 round 10mm 1911 mag will hold nine. They work, too.

I bought Tripp Cobra 9 rnd magazines for my 10mm 1911. They worked better than the Wilson 47NX magazines.
I'm running Chip McCormick mags in my RIA with no problems.
sw.sharpe welcome, enjoy the forum.
Been a member for a while and have been lurcking around. Try a .45 calibur magazine in that RI. Might be surprised. It will feed and function fine. Least ways in my RI 10. Steve
You can call up ARMSCOR and order extra mags, I think they were like 38-40 ish, I prefer the Tripp cobra 9 round mags though.
I like. 10 in the 10:)
I remember when CZ had a few mismarked 10mm magazines. Think they were like $12-$13 apiece. I got like 4 of them.
I have RIA 10mm Tac II. Initially I had issues with mags. Armscor sent me a new slide stop, now everything works. Original one, Kimber & Wilson 10mm mags all work and lock back. My favorite ones are the wilson 47 model 10mm mags however.
