New 40S&W barrel is just fine.

Using your 10mm barrel will probably work, but is far from recommended.

That ill-informed article does not apply to Glock pistols. I've explained why, with pictures, several times before on this forum. 40 S&W is fine in your G20 in a 10mm barrel.

Can I find that in a search on this site?  I'd like to read it.

Also, is that with an OEM or aftermarket barrel, or does it matter?

I had a Glock 20, with a aftermarket 40S&W barrel, and I could never get it to feed right. So I gave up, and was out the cost of a new barrel.
So in my case it wasn't worth the time, or the money. Got rid of the gun and bought a SR40C and a Hunter 10mm . Problem solved, at lest in my case.

I take issue that the article is ill-informed.  In point of fact, the author of the article addresses the specifics of the Glock particular without directly addressing Glock.

QuoteNow, if the firing pin is long enough

As you correctly point out in your post here (http://10mm-firearms.com/reloading-10mm-ammo/165gr-mg-fmj-for-gaming-load/msg8782/#msg8782) the Glock firing pin is not long enough to reach the primer if the case rim is in front of the extractor.

In addition, you can look at videos such as this one (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AwXtEm70Q0M).  The author of the video shoots several hundred rounds of 40 S&W in a stock Glock 20 and cites no issues.

All of these stand together in my comment that it would generally work, as opposed to shooting 40 S&W in a 1076 or Witness, which might work, but is definitely dangerous.

It is still not recommended IMHO.

When the Glock 20 functions correctly, you expose roughly 1/8" of the chamber to a combustion event it normally doesnt' get exposed to.  This may (likely will) erode your chamber faster than shooting 10mm.  I do not know how much faster as I have not tested.

It also can result in buildup of carbon, lead or copper in that 1/8" section, reducing it's intended diameter.  This could result in raised chamber pressure when switching back to 10mm Auto if the gun has not been thoroughly cleaned, with all debris removed from the chamber.

If you want to play with 40 S&W in your Glock at the range it won't bother me at all. I will still shoot beside you.

But I can't in good conscience say it is something that should be recommended..
