Title: Shotguns in this Hog hunt but what?
Post by: Intercooler on December 26 2013 08:04:22 PM MST
What ammo is it? They don't have much time to get on target but drop many with one shot. Is it slugs or something else?

That was bad to the bone!  They were probably slugs the way they were hit!  The one guy with the saiga 12 ga was taken a load of them.   The other with the rifle not so much... :-[

One serious hog infestation!  :o

Looked like all high brass loads being shucked out of that Saiga. Probably slugs. Heck of a pilot; around 1:16 in the video it looked like he was about to clip those trees. Talk about SA! :o

I am thinking the clear shell hulls were Brenneke slugs:

The maroon shell hulls probably were Federal.

For a while the guy with the shotgun looked like he was awful close to the other guy's foot with some of the shots!  :o

Yes, I was thinking they were crossing over each others' shots as well. Definitely not the safest hobby in the world.

It looked like a hoot though!  8)

The shotgun is a MKA 1919 AR type. The shells are High Brass Rio Royal Slug. They are nice and inexpensive. Work great in Saiga 12 stick mags. Their site has specs.

I saw that when I went on their site to see the price of the hunt after watching the video with my son-in-law. For the amount they are charging I think it's funny they use the cheapest slugs they can find. I guess the price of the hunt pays for the chopper fuel and maintenance.

For $1760 per hour, I could only afford this hunt if I had Intercooler bucks!  ;D

If that's the case you would be using the cheap slugs plus cutting the grass there to pay for everything else!  ;)

They might be cheap but they work and do some damage on targets thru the Saiga. Their buckshot is very nice too.

It's cool hunting from the Helicopter,  but not as much fun as from the ground where you could actually be the hunted  :o  ;D
