Title: Savage 110 BA .338 Lapua Magnum
Post by: Intercooler on December 23 2013 05:14:00 PM MST
What's your thoughts on this one? I have absolutely no reason to own one... but... WTH! Since ATK bought Savage I can get the Bro discount and 1/2 the $2500 cost  ;D

I would probably opt for the 300 win mag rather than the 338 Lapua.  Tons cheaper to shoot, and reaches out as far as I am ever likely to take a shot.

I think the platform looks quite solid.  But I don't have any first or second hand experiences to share.

Lapua ammo is about $6.00 ea. Some of the American stuff is cheap at around $3.00 to $4.00ea.

If for some reason I can't get out of this State next year, a rifle is one of the few pieces I could pull the trigger on.

Yes, definitely a reach out and touch someone gun.  8) I have thought about a 50 cal in the past, but I unfortunately don't have a place to shoot it around here.
I do have a Shiloh Sharps in 45-120, but that will only get out to about 1000yrd. And I don't have a place to shoot that at full range ether.  :'(

Not sure when I'll be shooting over a mile, but it would be cool to try once in awhile

they are nice rifles.a few of the guys on our savage facebook page have them and love them.their only complaint is just not having enough room to shoot it to it's potential but other than that it's fine.

Now that you mention it I don't know if a place exists in PA, MD or DE to let it stretch out there  :o
