Title: Buying primers online
Post by: mlk3454 on December 22 2013 07:32:21 PM MST
My local shop has started getting in a primers here and there but they disappear quick and I haven't been able to build up a nice supply of one brand. I was looking to purchase some online but have never done that? Of course there is a hazmat fee but I was wondering where you guys buy your primers online and what prices seem reasonable?

The closest Gander is awful with the price set around $5 per 100...

I never have.  Gotta buy a bunch to make it worth it after haz-mat.  Best bet is to get a group of guys together unless you really need 10,000+ primers.

I usually buy them locally from a few small shops.  I have bought them online through Wideners and a few other vendors.  Wideners has S&B primers right now for $25/1k, IIRC.  The S&B work well, although I haven't chrono'd them..........

To make it worthwhile since the implementation of yet more government CONTROL...Haz-Mat = TAXES, you, family and friends need to get together and make a large purchase of primers and powders in the effort to get the most stuff for one fee.

I usually look for my powder and primers locally when available!   ::)

I have three good friends that like to get powder in quantities similar to me.  I think the last order we sent in was 64 lbs of medium and slow rifle powders.

But we have never done primers.  We seem to pick up plenty at a good price locally.

I bought a boatload online and final price with all fees was just under 3 cents each. Group buy would be better.

I buy local when can, sometimes there's just none around...( to avoid the $25 haz mat fee ).

So I usu run GUNBOT  (  www.gunbot.net  ) to look for my brand and a good price along with powder from same location... Buy as much as you can as only one hazmat fee for the entire amount.

I just picked up 3K of Wolf large pistol primers from Wideners. They were $115 with shipping and hazmat. That comes to $3.83 per hundred.

Better than your LGS.
