Its been over a year, 35 radiation sessions, 3 chemotherapy sessions, a dramatic weight loss that caused me to physically collapse and sent me to a nursing home for 3 months, but I finally went to the range again. During all this, I had acquired 6 rifles and one pistol I had never even fired yet.
Well, consider them all fired now.
I fired 3 Mosin Nagants two Mausers, a Swiss 96/11, and a Spanish 1016 Mauser .308 conversion. I finally got to fire my Fusion Firearms 10mm long slide Hunter. I got to schoot my new Dan Wesson scoped barrel shroud, and the new 15" "Frankenbarrel" I got for the pistol pack. (Now have 5 barrels and 6 shrouds for it)
The only bad thing? Seems since I lost a lot of blubber in my shoulder by the end of the day I was getting a very sore shoulder with an incipient bruise coming in. (Either that, or just wasn't used to it any more)
But it's a GOOD hurt!
Those Nagants are fun. Any Kentucky Windage? I use one for deer. Some Kentucky but at 50 yrds on a 6" target I got it down with iron sights.
Good for you gandog56, glad your recovery has gone well enough to get you back out to shoot again.
Us older fellows could probably use some time in the gym, building up our strength and toning our muscles. I know I feel it everytime I go shooting as well. Last time I was shooting the stuff over the CHONY, I did it from the kneeling position, up down, chasing/collecting the brass to take readings/measurements, then again and again. The revolvers make this easier not having to chase the brass.
Heck, it's loads of fun and no pain no gain! :D

:))
Windage? Nope, was only shooting at 50 yards as My eyes don't quite focus at 100 unassisted no more. But that was holding at the 6 o:clock on both of them.
I stand corrected, Mosin Nagants. :-X
OK, making up for lost time. Second trip, 10 different rifles. Was having fun, found a golf ball in the middle of the range. Was shooting it with my 10mm. Hit it, it would go 10-15 yards further out. Kept getting harder and harder. Finally, must have nailed it dead center, found the white skin, but the core was gone.
This time my shoulder didn't ache as much, and did not bruise like from the first session.
Glad to hear your able to get back to doing things you enjoy.
Gandog....I am new here, but glad you are blasting some caps..again...Slim
Now, if I just had some package I would trust at 1000 yards, I would try it. That's as long as the range goes.
Be a heck of a walk and back to post targets, though! ;D
