I just saw in Jeff Quinn's latest Gunblast.com vid that RIA will be coming out with a commander-size 10mm 1911 ... available with or without a rail.
:-D
No rail ;D I'll have to get one of those :o .

I removed the other topic. Can't wait to see them!
I want one without a rail too :-)
Wonder if the Upper would fit my DGC Frame ?
I really love the Semi-Compact Set-up
How are the 10mm RIA's holding up?
I was going to buy the Tactical model last week an I got a little concerned after talking with a few people. Everybody I've talked to has not fired their's very much.I know RIA offers a lifetime warrenty.
I'm up to 700 or so handloads on mine. Put in a EGW flat bottom FPS, 22#RSA, and 28# mainspring from the get go. No problems outside of the low earth orbit brass being ejected. The first time you use it at a indoor range you will get a response from all the shooters on the line, ie, "what the he** are you shooting?" I'm using it as my main EDC and do practice once a week. I'll definitely get a Commander size one as soon as they are available. They are the best bang for the buck out there in a 1911. Just know going in that 1911 require more "love" than the plastictastic guns do. I did send it back to RIA to have the safety changed to a single from the ambi. They had it back to me in a week and did a complimentary fluff and on it plus no charge for change over. Best CS in the industry bar none.

No rail and straight serrations...Good combo for us old-school types. ;D
I have about 400 rounds thru mine from 135 gr Nolsers at 1550 fps to the 200 gr Noslers at 1250 fps. no problems. I would like to see a RIA 10MM Commander also.

When will they hit the shelves ???? Any place taking orders?
Question? Does the RIA have a ramped barrel like the Para/Kimber? If not, how much chamber support does it have?
Ramped barrel. The full size has a bull barrel with a Clark/Para style ramp. I would imagine this is the same.
Thanks, I had "assumed" it was like a Colt Delta, which didn't interest me at all. I "almost" bought a Kimber Stainless Target II in 10mm, but didn't want the big target sights. I also have spent a ton of money/time through the years in "tweeking" 1911's (45 acp) into reliable EDC guns. I love them, but was also not sure how the full power 10mm recoil would affect my rebuilt wrist, ha. So far, love those Glocks! But an affordable, well designed 1911 in 10mm is something I am drawn to....
Don't forget the flat bottom firing pin stop if you wanna baby your wrist. Bullseye shooters latched onto them years ago because they alter the recoil profile and make it feel softer.
I just wish S&W would come out with a M&P or Bodyguard sized 10mm or both.

RevJim, the recoil on the Para long slide is negligible, much like a G20, if not better. I've been shooting a majority of Underwood and after 800 it is still a pleasure to shoot, I'm having fun!!!

Would that be the part EGW calls an "oversized" FPS? They show one for Series 70 and Series 80...I have no idea which one the RIA is. I've never done any smithing, so I'm "almost" clueless, ha.
RevJim,
Yes. Wilson Combat,Harrison, and a few others make them also. You want the one for a series 70 (I dont think RIA has changed designs). The series 80 is for those pistols with the "safety block" design. Lots of youtube videos show how to shape/fit the FPS. Buy at least 2 just in case you mess up the first attempt(I know I did).

Thanks Dennis...If I go this route, I's have my local smith do the work...he is a good one. Right now, I'm just gathering up ammo for this G20, but these guys keep bringing up that darn RIA 1911! ha
