Title: AR 15 question (for someone who knows NOTHING about AR 15's)
Post by: Buckeye 50 on November 11 2013 07:01:39 PM MST
Is there a good product for under $1,000?  What about the Bushmaster Carbon 15 ORC w/ Red Dot Sight or DIAMONDBACK DB-15 and the 300?

Thanks,

Pat

Smith & Wesson makes a good one, the M&P. The last one I saw on the shelves was going for ~$750.

Been trying to locate posts on other AR-15 forums from people asking the same question and I can't seem to find them now but I do remember a lot of replies pointing to the Spikes and PSA offerings as being of good quality for the money.

Oh and my Sig Sauer M-400 Enhanced was under your price when I purchased it new and has been a great rifle...but of course I couldn't leave well enough alone...  ::)

I fit the claim. Just saw one yesterday at the range with issues.  Get the AK!

What kind of issues and what kind of ammo?

It wasn't feeding. He was pissed so I didn't bother him.

An AR-15, properly assembled with quality parts, is an extremely reliable and accurate rifle.

Heck it's based on the M-16 after all.

Oh it's not feeding right?

My investigation would begin with the magazine.

Look at Windham Weapons, they make one for less than a 1000.00,the last one I bought was from Cabela's for 764.00, lifetime warrenty,1 30 round mag, hard case, sling, bayonet lug.

Good suggestion.

My friend's Windham Weaponry has been very reliable, so have my other friends Olympic Arms and DPMS rifles.

Seems that for under a grand you can pick quite a few good factory AR's these days.  :D

Now if .223/5.56 ammo availability would just get back to normal... :'(

If you live close to a Cabelas they are having a sale from 11/14 thur 11/25. They have two tactical 223's on sell.one is a Windham Carbon SRC for 739.99 an the other is a DPMS A3 T.E.K. lite 16 carbine for 899.99,these guns are not available in CT. or CO. The DPMS comes with more accessories, but I think the Windham is better,I own both an I prefer the Windham. They both have the 1 in 9 barrel.
