Title: Just re-watched "In the Line of Duty"
Post by: P33v3 on November 11 2013 05:19:12 PM MST
So I just finished re-watching the TV Special about the infamous 1986 FBI shootout http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vp1FoWi1nx0 . (For those that are new to 10mm, this was the event that led to the FBI initially adopting the 10mm. That dramatization is largely seen as being pretty accurate. I then watched this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3pE4XI1dNWk which is the personal reflections of the surviving agents.

So it has reminded me of two things:

1) Carry the most powerful weapon you can comfortably and accurately shoot.
2) Carry as much ammo as you can just in case.

It is a shame the FBI didn't stick with the full load 10mm.

As a side note as much as I like my .45ACP's, I'm sticking with my 1076 as a primary carry with full load 10mm. Also as much as I am not a fan of Glocks I will likely be getting a G29 Gen 4 for when I need something lightweight and don't want to wear my shoulder holster. (Like when I throw on some athletic shorts to run to the store).

If you haven't seen both of those you should take the time to watch them. The personal reflections is from a Law Enforcement training video and is sometimes graphic.

I just finished watching both and I will say that even though I've read about that incident in books and magazines , the visual impact of actually watching a re-enactment put it in a much greater perspective for me.

Thank you for posting.

Those two were the definition of evil.

Thanks for posting...hearing it from the men who were there has tremendous value for me.

Thanks for reminding me why I carry 10mm.  The North Hollywood Shootout took place February 28, 1997 at Bank of America across the street from my familys' Valley Plaza mall.   The LAPD went to the gunshop where my brother gave them M-16s, that started the requirement of squad cars across the nation to include with their shotguns.  http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=928_1337728968
