Title: PCI Ammo 180gr RNFP
Post by: Intercooler on November 02 2013 07:46:59 PM MDT
I tested their 180gr Golden Saber version and it was pretty decent. I thought at the time these were out of stock but Graf and Sons had them today. They had 10 boxes when I ordered and only1 is left! A little high per box but if you get two or throw in some other stuff the $6.95 flat shipping is nice!

The 125gr Frangible rounds were sold out before I could add them  :o

Actually the Frangible shows in-stock but no quantity.

Graf and Sons have good prices for the Hornady 155 and 180 grain loads. Too bad they can't get them in stock.

Curious to see how the 180 grain load performs. PCIammo? Do we know them?

The Golden Saber was good. The Shadow did the pull-down and the gel video is posted.

I don't know if G&S is offering the Remanufactured or new rounds. If the Remanufactured rounds are loaded decently they would be about the cheapest practice rounds out there right now at $305/1000. That would have even PPU beat at $15.25 a box.

  I'm like the Guinea Pig  :o  ;D

I always seem to find something interesting in new ammo trials and this one is no different!

Eight different headstamps as these are reloads

This Impact headstamp is new to me

I will put a few through the Polygonal rifled pistols and do the majority in the 1006. It hasn't gotten any love in a while!  8)

3 IMPACT D   3-D Investment Co. Inc, Doniphan, Neb., USA   14

That explains the Impact brass but wonder who used it?

Some of the brass look like multi used items... :-\  Some are fairly dinged up.  I have re-used all of those brands. 8)
What kind of velocity specs did they give?

That Impact one is so... I will send it to you  :P

I was in the dark on these. Nothing more than RNFP for description and no rating. If they hit 1150 FPS that will be a shocker.

Is there anything we want to learn about brass? Possibly fill them with water to get a volume, section, etc...?

Not really much on the water measure, mostly because I don't have good liquid measure to get the needed readings.
I had some of the Impact stuff I pounded it pretty hard several times, they may still be in the brass box or re-loaded again in a box.

Cool at least we can see what's inside...and makes them go bang! :o
My mold for those bullets 170gr. weight between 172 and 175 before lube is added.

S&W 1006 5" barrel 1150, 1146, 1123, 1138, 1152. Average = 1141.8 FPS/ 521 LBS
EAA Limited Pro 4.75" barrel 1170, 1174, 1192, 1179, 1191. Average = 1181.2 FPS/ 558 LBS
EAA Hunter 6" barrel 1211, 1193, 1201, 1207, 1201. Average = 1202.6 FPS/ 578 LBS

Nothing to write home about but on-par with other target/practice ammo.

How did the barrel look afterwards, any lead streaking? smearing?  Velocities look to be fairly consistent across the different platforms.  8)

All three looked good. Actually pretty darn clean so let us know what the bullet measures.
