Title: Federal Tropy Bonded Soft point coming soon
Post by: jdub1836 on September 12 2013 03:19:15 PM MDT
So I sent an email to federal a day ago asking why they had the lowest energy 10mm load and asking if they could add the 10mm to their handgun hunting line, specifically a soft point which would be the only one on the market. Corbon's load is not a soft point. Here is my email and the response...

Please load some hotter 10mm rounds or even better add the 10mm to the hunting line. A lot of us are using 10mm for hunting and for back up. Hard cast, a hotter JHP or a soft point, which would be the only one on the market. Or even offer a hydra shok +p. The current hydra shok is the lowest energy 10mm on the market. Come on Federal please.

John:

We have one coming, load P10T1.  Trophy Bonded and full power.  We don't have a date when it will be available on the retail shelves at this time.

Thanks
Federal

I am very excited about this and even if it isn't the hottest load out of my 6.6 inch barrel they'll probably do the job on white tail, Javi's, and smaller pigs. They are already on some websites listed as soft points but not available and no pictures yet. Hopefully they'll be here before deer season.

Jacket soft point? I am wondering if this will feed in semi autos.

It's similar to the Corbon.  That fed good.

Im hoping its the A-Max bonded soft point which doesnt have exposed lead and is basically a pistol version of the partition. There are no pictures yet. I emailed the guy back and asked him. I have shot lead tipped 45 acps that were made for my dads revolver out of my g21 and they were awesome on hogs.

You mean the A-Frame? My guess would be that's what it is. The Corbon BCSP is soft on the end.

Yeah the A frame is already out but it costs an arm and a leg.  I feel this would be steller for the big stuff but at that price its not a " just shoot around and mess with it kind of thing."   I can see if its a dedicated load for hunting where a 100 or 200 bullets would last you a good long time.  But I have been trying to hold off buying it cause I would like to know how it does atthe close to nuclear level of performance ;D

Ramjet, did I miss something? Is someone offering a soft point 0.400" projectile as a component? The only one I've seen was the COR-BON load that did not expand at all in my test. I really want a soft point that will give moderate (<0.6") expansion. The Federal load is exciting to me because their American Eagle .357 mag 158 gr JSP did EXACTLY what I'd like to see from 10mm in a similar velocity. If they make the same bullet in 0.400" I would be overjoyed.
