Trying to get a feel for this platform in 10mm. Do you get any malfunctions or feeding issues? Will it run the big 220's easily without any issues? If you have owned other 10mm's how does it compare handling the 10mm (in other words the upper end heavy ammo)?
Ummm, this target using my Dan Wesson should be a clue.

;D
Started with a Rock Island 10 to try out the round, liked what I saw, traded the Rock off and got a Kimber Target II 10. Didn't seem to need any break-in, but since finding rounds and brass were starting to be a problem I ordered a Storm Lake, .40 S&W drop in with bushing. While I was waiting for the SL, I added a 22# recoil spring and flat FPS, along with (I know they say it should be heavier) lighter 20# MS. The main reasons for the changes were (1) chasing brass and (2) lighten the trigger (23# to 20# took off about 1/2 lb.)
It took about an hour to install the Storm Lake, the hood was a bit long and it wouldn't go into battery and lock. The 10 seems to be a bit more accurate than the .40 if I do my part, and both stay on the target at 25 yards (that's an NRA 25 yd. center) and at 15 it tightens up in both calibers.
Almost everything I shoot is cast, so I don't push things much over 1000 FPS. Right now the .40 is using a 175 gr. Lee TC at 1040 fps, and I've got some 195 gr. (Mihec) that are running near that. My impression is that copper if not thoroughly cleaned will cause more leading, and I star with lead to keep the price down. I haven't been into hunting for a long time and at almost 71 I'm not likely to start back.
gangdog,
What ammo for the target? Have you put any 220gr. HardCast through it? Any Underwood or similar?Any stoppages at all?
No doubt they are accurate! In all honesty though my own account is they don't do too well with extreme end or large pills. I have tried some things like spring and flat bottom but still didn't make it 100%.
Caspian Recon SS-LS ,STI 10 , Kimber Target II , RIA . G20 SF . I prefer 1911's.
I am able to cast my own bullets All run very well with Hard Cast 215gr WFNGC and 230 gr LFNGC loaded at 1.245".
The 215gr WFNGC at 1220 fps is the most accurate at 25 yards. Recoil is not a problem. With heavy loads the Caspian Recon SS has a little more muzzle flip than the other guns.

No, these were my favorite reloaded 10mm. It uses a 185 grain Precision Bullets moly coated "black Bullet" The heaviest I have ever fired out of this was some cast 200 grain loads, which were close, but nowhere near this accurate. I mean accuracy to me is more important than how much weight am I throwing. Best part is, I use these same 185 grain bullets for my 40 cal S&W loads, too. Here is a target using them and my SIG P229.

True. It's just it is a limited platform if you can't run the 200-220's reliably. Anyone having good luck with them or nukes?
I run a Para P16-40 converted to 10mm.
The conversion was very simple. I had the barrel reamed for $35.
The rest of my set-up is as follows:
10mm Specific changes:
EGW oversized Firing Pin Stop with the bottom edge barely broken by a file
25 lb Wolff main (hammer) spring
**Early on I ran a 22 lb recoil spring, but have gone back to the 20 lb factory setting after studying the work of Ned Christiansen**
General changes:
Ed Brown Beavertail Grip Safety
Checkered Flat mainspring housing
Aluminum long trigger with over-travel stop
Stainless mag release assembly to replace worn factory plastic assembly
Replaced all magazines with 2 Mec-Gar mags (15 round) and three Triple-K mags (advertised 15 round, mine hold 17)
Ed Brown extended non-ambi thumb safety
The gun was used and was kind of a sow's ear when I bought her.

Cosmetic changes:
Removed Dawson Magwell
File, sand, buff and bead blast frame to remove scratches and dings
File, sand, buff and sand blast the slide to remove scratches and dings, followed by black Cerakote
Here she is today along with her work in progress little sister:

She run heavy loads just fine. I cast 205 grain WFN rounds from a Mountain Mold. These always run fine. 175 grain SWC and 180 grain JHP run great as long as the COAL length is under 1.250". All factory ammo is. Some of my handloads weren't and these would occasionally hang up. Since I have altered loading practice to keep all such ammo below 1.250" I have had zero issues. The 205 grain WFN and the newer 180 cast HP from my NOE mold all work fine even at 1.260".
Big and heavy, this gun rides all day just fine in a cross-breed super tuck with a Desantis econo-belt. For every day carry I can stress enough what a big difference a wide stiff belt makes.
The PARA-USA longslide 10mm will be out next month. Another member here may try to get one for a review, I ain't sure about myself though. We'll see....
If they don't make it a double-stack I think I would just pass it by.
Me too...

Why? Look at my targets posted above. If I can't do it with eight, I should be running, not firing! :D
And I've run the Chip McCormick mag springs and followers in several mags to give me nine rounds in the regular sized mags. My short small fingered hand does not fit well with a double stack 10mm or .45. 9mm is OK.
Not because we can't hit. We have more singles than doubles... actually only three doubles on the entire 10mm market by my count. Doesn't offer a price point versus the other single models for =/- money.
