Title: WSF - Good / Bad ???
Post by: dsh1106 on August 15 2013 05:17:48 PM MDT
Hi all

I've searched and found a few posts about WSF, suggested loads and pictures. I couldn't find anyone's test report or range results.

Does any body use WSF ???

Thanks

I've used it in 10mm quite a bit. Good for plinking rounds up to middle of the road power. Similar to Unique. It'll do the job if that's all you can find.

While it will work for some bullet combinations many here want the "haul ass go fast" performance so powders like LongShot, 800X, Blue Dot, Power Pistol, AA#7 & #9 to bring out the velocity across the spectrum.

Please look over the pull-downs section of what is being used by the ammo makers.

Be safe!  :D

What those two said.

I've tried it because WSF is all I use in 40sw. Turns out it works great if you want some light plinking loads.

Thanks for the info ...

I didn't have any intension on going to the "Haul A$$" end of the spectrum, I guess I like the lower end "Slow" rounds.
I'm more of a bulls-eye type shooter, most of my shooting is at 10-15 yards. Small tight groups have always been my goal.

For accurate "practice" level ammo, WSF should be great.  About 6.5-7.0 grains with a 175 grain lead SWC or 180 grain FMJ/JHP should provide for along afternoon of smiles.  And $20 of powder should charge 1000 cases or maybe a few more.

I like WSF for several calibers, but as the others said, it is limited to light duty. Modest velocities for light bullets, and very modest velocities for heavier bullets. Very clean, comparatively economical, and accurate, if used within its ideal range.
