Title: At range @ 7:15 this am to beat the heat in NC
Post by: jiminthe burg on July 19 2013 07:56:05 PM MDT
Took 70 180 gr hardcast lead w/ 9 grs of AA #7 along with my G-20 as well as some other loads.

Finally figured out how to load lead to use in a glock.

Shadow, you told me not to crimp too heavily and I did not really understand why until a few days ago.  I adjusted the seating die so that it seated the projectile and did not do any crimping. Then, I adjusted the crimping die until it did not leave any marks on the projectile but took two hard whacks w my k. puller to pull the bullet.

I only did 70 in case it did not work out but I kept checking after the first couple of clips by running a oily patch through but could not see any evidence of  any leading.

After this, I switched to my L/W 6" barrel and ran about 100 200 fmj w/ 8.5 grains of AA # 5 that I was trying to use up and that was an energetic load but fun to shoot.  Both loads accurate and fun to shoot.

When I got home, I cleaned the stock barrel for the G-20 and it is as clean as a whisle. I switched barrels as I wanted to see what the stock barrel looked like with lead bullets only.

I will load the rest of that 500 box of lead projectiles w/ 9 grs of AA # 7 ( I am down to my last lb ) to use in the G-20. Thanks heavens I have enough Blue Dot to use in the 610 & 1006.

All in all, a good day. 170 rounds of 10 mm down range and it looks like  I can use lead in my glock if I so choose

You got to love it when things tend to work out like you want it to! ;D

I'm so glad that worked out for ya! I've never been a fan of lead but just might get some just because, ya know...My son shoots a LOT of lead and has been trying to get me interested in it so we can go in half's on the materials. Your post has me honestly considering it, thanks for posting this.
